On top of having the best core and HoT backstory and the most varied character appearances they also have the best both female and male voice acting with the least grating repeated voice lines unlike some other choices (I COULD OUTRUN A CENTAUR) It also makes it both hilarious that the player character is leading factions and killing elder dragons while around a week old and also infuriating that Scarlet has trained under every major lore character and surpassed them and single handedly created globe spanning alliances of groups that should hate eachother, all while like 2 weeks old. People say that basically the elfs of Guild Wars 2 are the humans, but it's absolutely the Sylvari (except they're not ancient). Hard to justify an engineer or a necromancer Sylvari though. Sylvari are where it's at I might re-make some of my earlier characters and use my *checks notes* 200 tomes of experience (along with a shitload of level skip scrolls) to just skip them to 80. Thanks birthday gifts! Gonna make some mushroom-head men

The Sylvari personal story and later, in LWS2 where you learn about Inquest experiments do a great job of setting up Asurans to be villains. Like, Asurans straight up tortured Sylvari for weeks, it’s okay to murder every mouse you see. If you have 10 asurans at a table and an Inquest sits down and they eat together, you have 11 inquest.

So after scraping together every single last coin I could to get the final materials I needed for Kudzu, I finally crafted it and went about putting it on all the alts I had who had the longbow equipped. I figured I'd dump the soulbound exotics in the toilet to get a sell-able thing to get even enough money to waypoint places again. It dropped Spark. I couldn't afford to sell it. I cannot with the bonkers luck whiplash in this game sometimes. I had to use the world boss portal for like hours to grind even enough stuff to sell the bugger. Geesh.

Don't subject yourself to dagger, just go Staff + Axe/Warhorn Staff isn't the most engaging, but it hits hard now. You can stay at range instead of needing to jump into melee for feeble damage, and dagger just way more work to do less.

Sword and shield warrior really should be revamped or something because it’s pretty dang basic/not great. I’m gonna always use it, but I hope it’ll be touched in this profession balance update because yikes. At least make warrior shield 4 quick and instant instead of whatever it is.

My necromancer is an asura and I've got him all up in Inquest red of the Asura cultural armor and the Inquest Mark II weapons. If the Asura are amoral little monsters, might as well lean into it! Kept my necromancer face paint, though. Even if you've got a doctorate in necrobiology you've gotta keep something of the necromancer basics.

The farther along I get into the 1-80 story as a Sylvari, the more I realize that Sylvari is the correct and intended race for the player. Human personal story is stupid bullshit comparatively. Looking forward to (re-doing) Heart of Thorns, and definitely 100% am going to do the caladbolg collection afterwards.
