Bail is good because it means anyone charged with a crime, and therefore definitely guilty, stays locked up so they can't go out and commit more crimes before their trial. Except of course for our richest, and therefore most trustworthy, citizens who were probably only arrested through some unfortunate misunderstanding and ought to be allowed to relax at home with their families while this all gets cleared up.

People who already paid off their student loan don't need help paying off their student loan. It's already paid off. Like, do they need help with other stuff? Maybe! But I get the impression Drunky's not in favor of any of the programs that would actually do that.

It's not that the lying surprises me, but it's annoying as gently caress that the Right has just decided to scream as loudly as they can about how Martha's Vineyard residents were super ultra racist hypocrites that had the army drag immigrants away, despite that being the literal opposite of reality. Oh, you didn't respond the way we were sure you were going to? Well, gently caress you, we're just going to say you did anyway.

There's no need to rush to be an adult.

They were going to lie no matter what Martha's Vineyard did. They wanted to 'own the libs' and they don't give a gently caress about the truth when it comes to that, so when the migrants were sent to Cape Cod (a place that has these support networks ready) they can frame it as 'lol liberals deported them! So much for the tolerant left!' and uncritical assholes will boost it.

I hope DeSantis and Abott get to share a prison cell. Detestable people.

Martha's Vinyard absolutely refused the migrants to stay long term and called the national guard on them to provide humanitarian and logistics help and drove them out technically, they bussed them out because the fancy liberals at MV didn't want the migrants there for their own good as there was no housing or available resources to support them in being in-processed, and they would be better off in an established emergency shelter that could provide all of those things.

This proves that MV liberals are just as racist as MAGA chuds, which is what MAGA chuds are 100% sure of. They will not be taking any questions at this time.

Meanwhile, Tucker's White Power Hour was practically giggling about it, and Ted Cruz has been tweeting every hour for days about how they should send a million billion more, like this is the most perfect owning of the libs in history. Just absolute children.

Oh, and not that it has any bearing on how lovely this all is, but those immigrants aren't here illegally, they're asylum seekers already working through the system. The system that DeSantis and Friends deliberately tried to gently caress over to ensure they'd be deported, as they were given court dates all over the country, some set as early as today, before being dropped off on an island nowhere near any of them. Florida and Texas should have their federal funding yanked yesterday, it can go to the cities whose social services they're trying to overwhelm.

poo poo like this is why there's no reason to engage, ever. Reality literally does not matter to these people. Their own narrative will never change, no matter what the truth is. Remember when Dems didn't want to run Bernie because "what if Republicans call him a socialist??" and then we ended up with endless cartoons about how Joe Biden is Karl Marx reincarnated anyway.

The Martha's Vineyard thing is so exhausting. Some assholes flew a bunch of innocent asylum seekers out of state to prove something racist. However, the people out of state behaved with basic human dignity and treated those asylum seeker like people instead of props and got them the help they needed, but the assholes are still acting like this is some huge own because ????????

Because the residents of Martha's Vineyard didn't say "You can come live in our houses forever now."

Even if they had said that the right would still be acting like this was some huge own.

And they're not even all that wealthy, which is yet another thing that makes this narrative so irritating. Martha's Vineyard is an island where rich people summer. It is well after Labor Day now, so those super-rich vacationers aren't even there right now. The people who are there, the much smaller population of people who live on the island year-round, are not particularly wealthy. In fact, they earn less on average than other residents of the state.

I mean, obviously compared to desperate migrants seeking asylum, the Martha's Vineyard locals are still privileged to the moon and back, but we're not talking about wealthy elites here at all. Just ordinary people, who nonetheless really stepped up, managing to rustle up food and fresh clothing for the visitors, find lawyers to advise them, doctors to treat those who needed medical care, get the relevant officials on the phone, and make the people as comfortable as they could until they could be brought somewhere with the resources to house them. That they're now being presented as snobbish super-elites who were unwilling to help the migrants is utterly infuriating.
