Some people would build pyramids to house their dead if it was allowed. New bird bath assembled and first hanging basket planted. I'm a bit bummed about the forecast rain but I can't do anything about it so I'll just have to delay some garden jobs for a few days.

the hot new thing in biofriendly corpse disposal is having your corpse frozen and shattered into tiny particles by a giant spiked platform which tbh seems metal as gently caress and would remind my family how much I loved playing quake

You cant have all the good poo poo that comes with being an obscenely wealthy public servant, with none of the responsibility. She takes ultimate responsibility for all the poo poo that goes on under her watch. If she didnt want shitheels implementing hosed policies, she should have done something about it.

I wonder if it will get up this time. Clugg fucked around with this message at 01:46 on Sep 21, 2022 |

The australian republican movement is about as inspiring as a chimpanzee beating itself off in a zoo so i assume we'll be a constitutional monarchy until the british all freeze to death so give it a year

Lolie posted:It might get up if a model that the public actually wants is among the proposals. I don't think that there's a presidential model that a supermajority of votes actually want. I don't know how the voting works if you split the question into republic yes/no model a/b. The first question could have the yes vote quite easily meet the majority rules and the second neither model wins.

So is having a generic question like 'do you want a republic and we'll figure out the details later'. Just look at how the UK hosed themselves into Brexit hell after the far right seized control of the debate. Party Ape fucked around with this message at 03:02 on Sep 21, 2022 |

Aside from the fact the original alternative to a directly elected president was a complete loving piss take there is also a serious failure of the ARM to market the vastly superior alternative. A lot of anti republic messaging was that we cant trust pollies to elect a president when in reality the idea that politicians are untrustworthy cunts skews in favour of a parlimentarily elected head of state because why the gently caress should we trust them to completely rewrite our constitution to delegate more concentrated power into the hands of an individual in a way that wont be completely hosed? Allowing parliament to elect a president is mitigating the unrelenting cuntery they pull on us, not exacerbating it. One politician with no parliamentary oversight is begging for another clap happy fuckwit like morrison to take their election as a mandate to pull whatever bonkers poo poo they believe at the expense of australian citizens. At the very least if we aren't going to allow parliament to elect a head of state I suggest a schooner necking contest to determine it.

This might be a dumb question but couldn't we just remove the monarchy/GG and call it a day? PM becomes "head of state" which they essentially are anyway. No need for presidents or any of that malarkey.

For examine, by setting up a secret Shadow Government where the PM has the power of all of his Ministers. They're also the nominal head of the ADF and the public service.
