Own the libs even harder with the kids whose heads got pulverized without their helmets, like was good and proper! They're not around to gainsay your conviction that it was a good thing they died!

You know, it occurs to me that what this country really REALLY needs is more people walking around with guns. It's the only way to be truly free. I know I never feel more safe than when I'm surrounded by a large group of heavily armed people capable of killing anyone within 50 or 100 feet. What we need to do is make gun carrying 100% mandatory. That way, everyone will be on equal footing.

Unlike a situation where, you know, no one has a gun. And everyone would be on equal footing. But maybe fewer people will die.

Just pass out a firearm any time you enter a school, a movie theater, a bank, board an airplane, get on a bus or catch a train. You could leave them in a bin that you can open by scanning the QRC code on the back of your driver's license that prevents fraud and lets you vote. Kind of like those 3D glasses that get passed out an IMAX.

I believe that the truly visionary fictional character, Archie Bunker put it best when he said this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lDb0Dn8OXE

We can't offer healthcare, retirement, affordable housing, serious bank regulations or do poo poo about pollution and climate change but we have lots and lots of guns so let's use what we have and do what we're best at and arm everybody. Then we can build things designed to protect us from all the bullets. And invent weapons that circumvent those protections.

I need to feel safe.

Technically things like affordable housing and banking *have* been addressed with guns before, but not in the way that we typically mean.

Also as we know, criminals may not respect the law but they respect violence so if everyone is carrying, surely criminals would also not try to arm themselves with more powerful weapons because criminals are actually cowards who respect me, a big stronk man.

I saw people share that stuff when we were 25.

I too long for more child injury and am super let down that my son has only been to the ER twice. Once for a seizure and once for stitches. It'd be so much cooler if his face was constantly hosed up like that picture. Who doesn't love bruised and bloodied children?

Not a good strategy. Yes you can trade Mexico their cities back in exchange for their vote for your proposal to ban opiates in the World Congress, but the warmonger penalties you rack up will make it impossible to make deals for anyone else's support.

Wait, how are they smuggling it (and theoretically touching it) without immediately dying? I was under the impression that even looking at fentanyl was instantly fatal.

Yeah, while smuggling is a problem the vast majority of fentanyl in the US is legally imported and acquired either through bogus prescriptions or a relative/caregiver skimming legit prescriptions.

When my mother was in in-home hospice they gave us an insane number of Fentanyl patches with absolutely no oversight. Just a bag of drugs, a single page of dosing instructions in size 14 font that covered 9 medications, and a "good luck."

To this day I'm pretty convinced that medicare funded hospice gives as much medication as they do with the intent to have families hasten the process.

This is pretty much my understanding and the inferences I've gotten from people who work in hospice. Instead of having someone suffer in their final days, just drug them up and let them fly away in some peace.

I know it's a visual shorthand but christ that original photo. Anorexic people aren't *schizophrenic*, they don't hallucinate that they're obese in the mirror. They can see who they are, their disorder justifies what they are to be still too fat. Also shout out to the poor girl that has to play either side of that photo.

Also a lot of anorexia as I understand has to do with how people see themselves in regards to like, supermodels and actors, and the motives behind it are fairly clear: "I'm too fat." Whereas gender dysphoria, while someone can come to the conclusion "I don't identify with the gender I was assigned at birth" for sure, can be a lot more vague, like just feeling their body is wrong somehow but not fully understanding why. It's not the same kind of thought process.

And of course yes, like you said, there's no real danger to allowing people to change what gender they identify as and it's very rare for it to have any sort of negative effects on their body, whereas allowing someone to live an anorexic lifestyle would absolutely have horrific health outcomes.

It's probably not exactly the same but I had serious body dysmorphia issues regarding weight throughout my youth and early adulthood. At one point I had dropped to just over 100 lbs (a physically dangerous weight for my height) due to undiagnosed diabetes that I had had for at least 6 months but potentially more than a year. But when I looked in the mirror I could still find love handles and fat gut while my family and friends were deeply concerned for how skeletal I had gotten. I actually remember the original ad campaign that that picture came from (it was an eating disorder awareness campaign), and it did capture exactly how I felt at the time.

Yeah I wasn't quite that bad but I lost a ton of weight in 2004 and in 2006 I was scary skinny (though not skeletal) and I still wouldn't take my shirt off at the beach thanks to my very, very tiny love handles that will never go away, thanks genetics.

Luckily I grew out of that...literally, got fat again. :D

The other bit is that I went through pretty dramatic weight loss last year when I was going through an unexplained illness (ended up not being able to eat without vomiting for several weeks and lost about 30-40 lbs, had to be hospitalized and put on IV nutrition). And this time I had zero misconceptions about how skinny I had gotten (thankfully I didn't drop nearly as far this time).
