every day it's just constant thoughts of the loss and how much i don't want to be here anymore. i wish she'd kept these two but the siamese is problematic and she was going to otherwise rehome him (a huge red flag that she's had a massive personality shift/stroke). if she'd kept them i could have shuffled on by now.

Do you exercise every day? Did you do the thing in the breakup thread where you find a new hobby and then actually do it? Did you figure out the most productive time of day and schedule your time for both doing good things and having feelings? What are your short-term goals?

I would add exercise to this list too.

My grandpa pulled off the distinguished hair on the sides and back but bald top nicely. If you can do that, it lets you keep your hair while not letting the world push you around for being bald.

I’ve been growing my hair out. It takes multiple days of being careful not to get it too dirty or too clean if I want it looking it’s best.

Can anyone provide advice on where to buy a wedding ring without the wedding tax? We want a man-made diamond for ethical reasons and even that seems like it’s way more expensive than it should be.

No men in my family (either side) have gone bald, which is a bonus for me since I have a hideous head. I bic’d it once in high school maybe and it was downright repulsive. More than my normal look. I just go to the barber every couple of months for a clean-up since I wear a baseball cap all the time outside of work and an OR hat at work.

Man-made stones definitely are gouging with the ethical label, they cost almost nothing to make, labor is in cutting just like natural. Don't know where you are but you can probably find a jewelry wholesaler and just order an empty ring in the right size then buy a stone to match, any jeweller will set a stone, shouldn't cost much. If I'd done this with my wife's wedding ring we'd have saved half easily.

Congrats.

This is great advice, thank you! Is there a trick to finding the “right” wholesaler or is it the sort of thing that just requires legwork?

I've always said that if it starts to go, it's gone, but currently there's no sign if anything receding or otherwise going away, and I've let it get past my shoulders since my stylist retired in March of 2019, and I can't be arsed to find a new hair artist. I'm not picky or anything, just lazy.
I *will* cut it when it starts annoying me too much. One of the reasons I cut my ponytail years ago was it kept getting caught under my back and tugging on my head when scooting around underneath cars (driveway is a little too sloped for a creeper, so it's just me on a piece of carpet or whatever.)

I found a proper jeweler who did custom stuff, we discussed what I wanted and they carved it in wax. I approved and they had it cast in palladium (I couldn’t afford platinum as a college student) with opal inlays and a sapphire instead of a diamond. It came out cheaper than the pre-made stuff and nobody else has a ring just like it.

Seconding moissanite. A palladium band 1ct solitaire only ran me like $750 and everyone believes it's a real diamond because it shines so brilliantly

Everyone might also include the missus, I'm not 100%. She should know that it's not real, I've never called it a diamond, she knows that I'd never buy a diamond, and I'd tell her if she'd ever asked me, but she never has. She's never called it anything other than a stone to me, but I have heard her tell other people it's a diamond

I'm also a revolting goon, for the last 4 months I've been able to be a revolting goon with a beard, for the first time in my life, and I recently got it all trimmed up, but only did I get a ton of compliments from dude coworkers, but I got hit on by an attractive woman at a gas station, the first time in 32 freaking years any woman has hit on me without knowing me for awhile first.

She called me "cute as hell" and asked if I was married. I think she must've been drunk off her rear end at 2pm

For reference:

I also got a new car today, the first brand-new car I've ever bought, bringing the fleet total to 6, of which 4 run. (It's a boring-rear end Chevy Bolt)

Also the thing I build at work, after 3 months of insane overtime and overcoming an insane number of technical issues, fired up successfully for the first time today. Stopped by the office on my way home from getting the car to pick up a few hundred bucks in "good job!" Awards for my team that I get to surprise them with at our team BBQ tomorrow.

I realize that this past seems kinda braggy, but I'm kinda having a good time right now, it's a weird feeling.

I will never shave voluntarily ever again. Have you been using an after shave? The 5 minutes before sharp rear end hairs embedding themselves is what's throwing me for a loop, your skin should be moisturized after a shave and should feel amazing for a good while. Kinda sounds like you get razor burn? A splash of cold water followed by a nice moisturizing after shave product and your face should feel like a baby's bottom.
