Has Pillars of Eternity been done yet? I remember there was an attempt some time ago, but I think the thread lasted about two dozen posts before being abandoned.

I'd be willing to make the game my first LP, but the Whitemarch expansion is kicking my rear end.

Any good LPs of the Nier remake? I'm looking for something that highlights differences between it and the original.

Aside from the new ending and the general visual touchup/60 FPS, there are no differences. It's the same game, warts and all.

Not to say that it isn't worth showing off, it is, but that's probably not the angle to take.

Officially fulfilled.

Eh, there are a number of changes to sidequests, like Brother Nier training with the fishing teacher for like a week offscreen while Dad Nier gets stuck on a fishing boat for a month.

I'm busy, and I'm having fun.
Overall it's a lot the same -- some mechanical changes in combat, but that's not really anything that would come across much in an LP. There are some additional scenes in the B and C/D routes, and most notably in all routes there's a big sequence that was cut from the original involving a large ship that crashes at Seafront. And previously mentioned E ending. But the majority of the experience seems to be very similar with a different mood from the protagonist (I didn't play the original).

Legitimate question, is this something new to the remake of Replicant or was it like this in the original version of Replicant, like how the two versions are set in different years for no particular reason?

Mraagvpeine posted:

Dad does show up for the bonus DLC dungeon thing that's baked into the remake that lets you play as the other protagonist. This was also in Gestalt and the only way Brother NieR was playable in any English version of the game until the remake.

I watched the one that Chip and Ironicus did, and it was as solid as their past work. Though the DLC recordings appear to have kind of dropped off, and I have no idea if/when those will return.

Did anyone ever do Cyberpunk 2077? I'm curious to see how it turned out, and I know I will never ever upgrade my PC so far that I'll be able to run it.

Also, yeah, Chip & Ironicus did a great job with FF7R! Seconding that suggestion.

Requesting an LP of a series of very well-made Doom mods: Ashes 2063 and its sequel Afterglow. While its gameplay is fundamentally Doom-ish, the whole package is for all intents and purposes a whole new retro-FPS game, and quite a good one at that; even the story and postapocalyptic setting are surprisingly engaging, for the most part. I think it's definitely worth showing off.
Available here under 'Downloads' (all the other dropdown boxes contain spoilers, obviously),

After the RDR1 LP a couple of years ago, I recorded a few episodes of RDR2 with ChaosArgate and eventually came to the conclusion that even a semi-comprehensive LP of RDR2 would take forever. I still have all my footage and the episodes we recorded, but I highly doubt that LP will ever see the light of day because I don't want to spend the rest of my life doing cowboy poo poo.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. :( I'll see if I can find someone non-annoying doing a playthrough, even if they're just casually noodling around. It looks like a fun game to watch (but I would probably be poo poo at playing it myself).

The barrier for RDR2 isn't so much difficulty as it is the sheer time it takes

I'm really in the mood to read/watch an LP of an old-school CRPG or adventure game, if anyone has recs, especially one that's really difficult and/or esoteric and explained well by the LPer. I really love the Wizardry IV LP on the archive and also the LP of The Prisoner, for some examples of stuff that's scratched that itch in the past. I'm more interested in mechanics discussion than narrative LPs for RPGs, and I think I've already read through all the Ultima entries on the LP archive as well.

Mechanics-forward obscure-game LPs are pretty rare, but you might be interested in my Angband and ToME Let's Plays. They're both roguelike games, and I like to think that (at the time, anyway) I had a pretty good grasp on what was going on and how to play them :v:

From scrolling through the challenges+informative+screenshot tag collection on the archive, I also noticed Civilization 2 (not exactly obscure, but pretty different from what most people think of when they think of Civ, these days), and this LP of Shining Force which uses a challenge conduct to limit the characters they have access to.

Princey
Mar 22, 2013
I love your Roguelike LPs! Your Angband LP is what got me started playing Angband. I haven't read either in a while though, so that might scratch the itch. I'm also a big fan of that Civ 2 LP, and the same guy's Fire Emblem LPs as long as I ignore the commentary on the narrative and just skip to the tactics (not because I don't like narrative LPs ever, just that I disagree with his assessment and it annoys me in this particular case). I'll check out the Shining Force LP too.

You've got a pretty spot-on assessment of my taste here, haha.

Wearer of Compasses. Slayer of Gods. Champion of the Colosseum. Heart of the Void.
Saviour of Hallownest.
Slightly hesitant to recommend but given Fire Emblem has come up on its own.

My own LP of Fire Emblem, Three Houses, Crimson Flower Maddening is very strongly focused on the tactical/strategic aspects of the game rather than the narrative.

Again, hesitant because my understanding of your taste might be wrong.
