The recent setups involving stalls are some spooky poo poo. If it stalls far enough off the coast it could deteriorate and only yield minimal impacts up the entire FL coast. If it stalls near Tampa bay though, well, their Hurricane Phoenix scenario didn't account for that one.

It stalling off the coast from Tampa as a decaying major hurricane would be horrible for storm surge, which as we all know is the real decimator (not the winds onshore).

Tampa doesn't get hit by hurricanes, so it's safe to stay.

Everytime this happens the storm bounces off the hurricane protection bubble and wrecks the panhandle or Louisiana.

Also, for everyone new to Tampa landmarks, MacDill AFB is on the bottom of that little dangly bit inside Tampa Bay. You can see the runway on some of the storm surge maps as a bit of high ground surrounded by 9+ ft of storm surge water.

I think you will find that tax money will be spent but rather than repairing anything it will make a small number of lovely people who were not impacted by the storm much richer.

This could be your finest hour. You could emerge as a hero for saving people's lives in the aftermath and coordinating aid.

Or you could become a warlord and rule the region with an iron fist.
