Doesn't matter. You represent a side, and you have to fight for that side. It is your ethical obligation to do things that personally, you don't like - such as cross examining a domestic violence victim. It is very difficult to compartmentalize the horrors of the world away from your non-lawyer life. This is a big part of why lawyers have massive substance abuse problems. Yup - this is why I no longer practice and went into IT instead. My last gig was investigation and arbitration of supplier misconduct including bribery, abuse, human trafficking, etc. I walked away from the profession after three years of having my eyes burned out daily and not being able to seek justice but merely execution of rules.

The defense seems to be some combination of: Appeal to Trump Cultist: this is all political, politics is war and it doesn't matter who gets hurt. Appeal to Free Speech Absolutionist: Free speech is the most important thing and any attempt to limit someone's speech in any way is wrong. Appeal to Lunacy: Look at this guy, he's a fool, a carnival barker, and he's so deluded that how can he even be responsible for his actions? I guess they're going for trying to swing one person on the jury because that's what they see as their best bet. I don't think it has a chance in hell of working. Even if you get people who fit snugly into one of those three holes, you still have to justify that he did none of this for freedom or your rights, he did it all to make millions selling fake boner pills, and he's just going to keep doing it no matter what. It's not like he's just some silly guy shouting on a street corner who lives in a shack at night and otherwise bothers no one.
