Nah, sanctions are bad for business. The only Americans left there are Edward Snowden, Britney Griner, and people who are about to end up like Edward Snowden or Britney Griner.

As recently as 2 months ago I knew of Americans travelling to Russia to visit family. The only unusual part of the trip for them was no direct flights, so travel was a hassle. Otherwise it was a normal trip for them without BS at customs or anything. I was surprised, but it seems like it's been no big deal, at least until the mobilization stuff hit.

Yeah, there are probably a decent number of Americans who have been living in the country for years or decades, possibly with family. They were stuck between a rock and a hard place before the invasion started, and I can only imagine it's going to get worse. As an American expat married to a foreign woman, I have no idea what the hell I would be doing if I were in Russia instead.

James Cordon? I’ll admit I don’t watch any of his stuff, but I thought he was just some late night host? Though not quite as pathetic as Jimmy Fallon.

Also can we send them all of RT USs former reporters?

Fortified positions can have lots of different building materials like concrete and stuff. It takes time to build but it's not unusual if you have pioneers to do it.

That being said berets are for parading and looking fancy so who knows where they are stationed.

As far as I can tell, the warning is mainly to dual nationals, along the lines of "get out now if you don't want to get drafted".

US Embassy in Moscow posted:

On September 21, the Russian government began a mobilization of its citizens to the armed forces in support of its invasion of Ukraine. Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, deny their access to U.S. consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service.

The US Department of Defense announced an additional $1.1 billion in security assistance for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, meaning the money will be spent to manufacture and provide new weapons to Ukraine. These weapons will not come directly from pre-existing US stocks of weapons.

Eighteen High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and “associated ammunitions,” are included in the package, the release states.

The package also includes 150 Armored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, 40 trucks and 80 trailers to “transport heavy equipment,” additional radars for Unmanned Aerial Systems, among other items.

The US has committed “more than $16.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine,” since the Russian invasion began in February, the release adds.

That’s some incredible reporting.

One has to wonder if the discontent in the Russian military will have domestic implications, or if Putin is counting on demoralized troops getting killed so his generals won’t have to deal with them.

America is the second largest exporter of goods in the world. Hard to find that information though because most google searches for export totals will just return results about how the US is the worlds largest importer of goods. Almost like it’s intended to give a false impression.

A modern US Army HIMARS battalion is 27 HIMARS (3x firing platoons of 9 each). They used to be (and most still are) 2x8 instead of 3x9.

The change was announced in 2020-ish and the first units were fielded at full strength in 2021. I don’t think they finish going to 3x9 until 2026 or so.
