i think its worth noting that as far as foreign streaming sites skedaddling out of the market goes they already did this to russia in a move that was intended to be punitive but did absolutely nothing either to individual russians or the russian government but did cause an existential crisis at streaming companies because of the lost revenue

So what the fallout of the Korean law? YouTube force you buy premium or give you 480p video? Or you have to $200/m for boardband internet? That sounds way more expensive than YouTube premium.
|
# ? Sep 30, 2022 06:25 |
|
its also worth noting that netflix relies on south korean content to such a ridiculous degree that backing out of korea really isnt an option for them theyd lose a huge chunk of their international markets if they lost the south korean dramas and the domestic producers would have zero trouble finding new distributors

hahahaha, migrant workers in Dubai are treated so badly its insane Almost all of them live in places like this that stretch on into the horizon. I was there in 2006 and you could see them from the highway going into the city They are bussed into the city for work and back again so i don't know that very many will get to use a machine like this. Also if you become so poor that you can't find secure housing they will deport you.

stephenthinkpad posted:I pay 45 a month, no promotion. Middle tier speed in NYC. that's pretty good, maybe $60 in tx for the same, $120 for gig and higher. an order of magnitude more expensive in SK is extremely untenable lol. operating under the same conditions as SK i wonder why it's so cheap in Germany

it is somewhat ironic that ISPs make the cheap infrastructure that other companies then make $all from. it'd be fine if they were just nationalized and the googles taxed, but i guess that's not neoliberally convoluted enough

nationalizing fiber is like, the easiest loving thing a govt could do. easier than amazon, easier than loving westinghouse or lockheed. it's already there, just loving take it. there's just no will to do so and we will suffer with that absense

There is (or was, anyway, not sure if it's still the case) a few Chinese cops in Novi Sad, as far as I'm aware they're basically tourist herders. There's also Turkish cops in Serbia too, and they're... less tourist oriented. e: There was also one big showing of the FBI a few years ago when someone did an international corporate espionage oopsie, although it was kept on the downlow relative to how much poo poo got stirred. my dad has issued a correction as of 19:00 on Sep 30, 2022 |
