They haven't announced any new movies yet, so hopefully that means the fight scenes will get the attention they deserve. And honestly, I have no idea where they could even fit in a movie since they always try to have them set around the current season and there's not a whole lot of breathing room from here on out. Like, I dunno, a whole movie about vigilante Deku?

this is a chapter where the official translation does a ton for making it read better. not that it was unclear what was going on, but having a proper tone and voice for the dialogue helps sell all the AFO/Shigaraki/Deku stuff better, which that conflict sorely needs

After about 30 minutes nothing happens anymore. Shoto and Dynamight's final battles are such remarkable nothingburgers. And Deku's fight is a boring composite of All Might overpowering Nomu's shock absorbtion, combined with the movie 2 villain mostly just standing around as opposed to actually make fun fight choreography.

"Fanservice" shots of teens aren't exactly uncommon in manga. I mean, Toga is naked a lot of the time for one thing. I think we saw the 1-A girls naked in the bath at one point too. Then theres Momo and Pop Steps ridiculous outfits.... I think the ship sailed on this a while ago. Manga is gross and horny, whatcha gunna do? even in cases where there isnt really a moral problem (like, say, the girls in one piece are adults. isnt robin like in her mid-30s) most action shonen fanservice is either the same five gags repeated over and over or way too restrained/forced in to actually be that hot. im not against some joking around with/playing with sexuality but ive mostly seen it done well in actual romance manga, or manga actually aimed at adults, because its usually more actually worked into the characters. and no having a wacky pervert character doesnt count as being tied into the characters.

Acknowledging sex exists can be fine. I think largely of Kaguya Wants To Be Confessed To which (at least in the manga, I've heard there is a creepy anime OAV) is a series about immensely dumb horny teenagers which manages to actually address "teenagers are horny as gently caress" without getting creepy about it and even uses it for comedy in ways that aren't thinly veiled excuses to show boobs. MHA has had plenty of lovely moments but this particular one just stands out because it's so blunt and blatant and it also happens to be the first time the character is visible which means if you do like the character the first time you get to actually see her design is in official basically-porn.

The weird intersection of drawing characters to be attractive and insisting everyone needs to be a teenager is something that a lot of media has a problem with but anime is infamous for. But this is basically a hentai cover focused around an underage character that was put in an official release, and that just hits different from the usual eye rolling crud.

Deku is desperate to save Shiggy because they're both massive nerds and he wants to start a DnD campaign. I think it's because I started this manga when it was right into it's tail arc but the back half isn't standing up to the first half and My Villain Academy was the last good full arc I can remember before it felt like the series was rushing to end itself, just like how Demon Slayer read to me where I thought this was a manga that could go on for a while longer and then the author said "Nope, we're ending this now"

Shiggy is obviously the DM since that's more or less the role of the "villain" in a DnD campaign, but personally I think the only person who has the chops and discipline to run a successful campaign is Iida.
