drat, now I’m getting the itch to go back and play the OG half life. The Black Mesa re-imagining is cool but there’s something special about the original blocky graphics that calls to me.

Old style graphics definitely have a way of giving just enough detail to know what they're going for while also letting your imagination fill in the rest, giving it the benefit of the doubt. Modern more detailed stuff that tries to be photorealistic ends up just making the inevitable seams show all the more.
