What's the court case, are they really trying to criminally prosecute someone for a joke?

They already tried (and failed, actually) to convict the guy, but his ensuing civil rights suit got thrown out because existing precedent is that the courts can just arbitrarily refuse to punish the police for rights violations, based on something the Supreme Court made the gently caress up in the 80s. The question isn't so much about parody in particular as it is about the right of the cops to terrorize anyone who doesn't kneel before their masters. It doesn't matter because there's pretty much no chance the SC even deigns to hear this, they invented the doctrine in question and are certainly not politically any better now.

We promised this to our friend and got the really upset kid who kept dropping stuff down the hill and ghost bird dad back to back. Some episodes are bummers, but all of them are a plot by the Japanese government to encourage having kids. I mean, really cute.

They couldn't do a version in most countries, for simple reason of traffic. Japan's designed their cities to be walkable more than driveable, so parents can send their toddlers out on errands without worrying about them getting run over at the nearest crossing.

Yeah not just walkable, but also mixed use zoning rather than having separate commercial and residential areas.

A lot of the episodes take place in smaller towns and rural areas, and some of them the kids aren't even leaving their parents' property. I'd say it would be doable in most countries in the right places.

here modern radio contains not only those but some of the most condescending "PSAs" I've ever heard, like a radio host saying you can spare less half a teaspoon of sugar in your coffee to "avoid diabetes" and then "Wow, isn't that a great tip! I bet you never knew that!"

At one point Waze allowed you to switch the voice commands to be audio clips by those radio hosts, i sat in my colleague's car and it was one of the most aggravating driving experience i've ever had

My friend was telling me about a study he'd seen where physically attractive people got COVID at a lower rate than unattractive people and I had to gently explain about how all such studies are just accidentally measuring wealth and income through some proxy statistic, like being attractive or eating lots of yogurt and nuts and dark chocolate. It really bummed him out.
