Anecdotally there have been suggestions the game the zaum remainers are working on has a space travel theme, which I think is unlikely to use the elysium IP or have such a distant connection to existing material that it wouldn't really change anything that matters if it does

There have been no details re: the IP situation. Luiga said they're keeping mum on that front for the time being, probably because they might take it to court, but it would genuinely seem pretty difficult for ZA/UM to outright swindle them out of the IP as a whole, as opposed to just, say, rights over the game itself. Luiga also said that progress on the next game is "stuck" rather than "lost" - you could take that a ton of different ways, but I'm leaning towards thinking that what they lost is the means to get a project started now that they're hosed out of a company (and like, you could say "just crowdfund it" but even with the prominence they gained it's just not that simple). ZA/UM have also, to my knowledge, not given any signals that they're working on a sequel.

End of the first in game day. Measurehead still blocks the way, don't want to get help from scabs and REALLY want to knock his block off myself having to listen to his dialogue. Need more xp points for that to work tho, no way I can get the cash for the track suit pants and jacket to help with that. It'd look loving rad I bet tho with the beanie and gloves I found in the garbage. But I did unlock Hobocop thought so maybe I can actually find some more cans around tomorrow. Had a great chat with Kim when we debriefed about the days events on the balcony. He's so cool! Oh god that dream sequence. They managed to top the opening sequence, it's amazing stuff. Thank God I don't go into work tomorrow, I'd probably die in my sleep or on the way in thinking about the limbic system and lizard brain dialogue. Great place to leave off for today. Dude, it's just written in a channy ironic deprecation style, probably by an actual Estonian. It's not uncommon on the internet, including the 'humor' articles on somethingawful dot com. The quotes about alcoholism and being a failed artist is mostly based on what Kurvitz actually said before. (Although, hopefully, he is past that now.) there's a certain amount of background that none of us are ever going to know about this poo poo and it almost certainly involves a bunch of interpersonal bullshit and grudges between people who have known each other for years so trying to parse any kind of objective truth out of it is kind of a waste of time imo. except that it sucks they probably aren't going to make another one.

That they were artists who had created a great work but had to sign rights away to their creation which ultimately hosed them because investors are lovely and these two especially so. The investors did what investors do and used this opportunity to move to London and are now trying to take control of a thing that they (probably) dont understand what makes it great in the first place...the creators. Kurvitz in an interview himself said that he went to his friend and said "we have failed at so many things, let us also fail at making a video game" so it isn't that out of left field. Something I did find interesting thought is that they mentioned one of the investors being the one to sell the ferrari, when Kurvitz in an interview said it was his ferrari that was sold.

The text makes it sound like Kender is the main villain of the story and the ZA/UM creatives were just foolish for getting into bed with him, which at this points seems to be the unfortunate truth. The Sirp scandal seems misrepresented though. From what I could find, Kender and Kurvitz were the editorial staff for exactly one issue, wherein Kurvitz published another poet's unpublished poetry and had to resign afterwards because of it. I haven't actually heard about Kurvitz publishing poetry and couldn't find anything about it on Google, even on Estonian websites. Otherwise it seems like a plausable sequence of events. The author seems to present it as "lol dumb communists hoist by their dumb communist ways" even though the actual thing that happened seems to be "communist-chic capitalist manipulates a group of leftist writers and exploits their creativity until they are no longer necessary". Knocked the gently caress out of Measurehead and got him to take down the corpse from the tree. Spinning heel kick in hobo gloves and beanie AND fixed ledger in hand. DISCO INFERNO! The autopsy went well, kept it by the book cause I respect Kim so much. Didn't do the check for looking deeper in the mouth of the corpse cause it was 8% on the check but even a failure would have gained something interesting. But again, let Kim cut the steel reinforced rope and didn't want to gently caress anything up here. Another play through perhaps. Dear God, the encounter with the union leader was rough, worse than having to face Measurehead even. EVERYONE HAS ME BY THE BALLS. fake edit cause i left this tab and post open while playing; Stood in the rain lost in thought after Kim left. Maybe I'm falling in love with him? Also. This construction thing is super sus, it's definitely no youth centre, another dock and port? Some hidden check is not ticking to let me see this maybe. how important is hp etc/volition in the game? i didn't want to do a brawler and didn't put any points in hp, and right out of the gate, i get taken out by a ceiling fan just wondering whether things like that are likely to happen, because it doesn't give you a lot to work with short of savescumming

Things like that happen semi-frequently but you can also carry medicine and drugs and stuff to heal the appropriate stat and you have enough time to use them even if you've taken "fatal" damage on the stat. That said congratulations on having one of the quintessential DE experiences, you did nothing wrong.

Do make sure you make your rent, though. I believe it’s possible to irrecoverably hard lock the game if you fail to make the rent. Don’t sweat it too much, though. There’s plenty of money to be made in the world.
