Lol, that phrasing makes it seem like they're doing it for fun and it isn't advertising married to corporate mandated team bonding.

having watched it myself now I'd say the mordor scene would've probably been ok had they just not included the text change and trusted the audience to not be thick enough to warrant it. the scene itself had acceptable gravitas

hooooly gently caress the humor in that hit a brick wall for me. they tried way too hard to mirror the humor of the mid-60s original and i appreciated that but also it wasn't working for me at all. i got all the way to just before herman entrance, so like ten minutes i guess

Yea it's literally just The Munsters. It's like Rob Zombie found a script for a made for TV special from the 60s or something.

it is pretty remarkable that nothing seemed like a nod toward the 2000s whatsoever and that was refreshing. from what i saw the cast didn't have the charisma of fred gwynne though

i cant stop thinking about how the shehulk showrunner had been pitching the idea for a long time but never stopped to think that her show about a lawyer should be taking cues from or hiring people with experience making legal dramas

everyone knows that americans love the military and depict them doing heroic things naturally because thats what they do in real life not like those poor artists in foreign countries who are forced to make laughably absurd propaganda at gunpoint

Probably, yeah. I mean we've seen what happens when people try to make things their own under the current Disney system - they quietly can them and hire someone who will put together what they want as economically efficiently as possible from existing footage.

The thing about tv show was that The Munsters were the only weird ones, everyone around them was normal. Here everything is a neon hell full of Spirit Halloween assholes.

they bought tolkein's appendices, which contain some of the silmarillion but not all. so the arc of the show will be the forging of the rings and the consequences thereof, and we've had hints of that direction already. but the first season's almost over and frankly not a ton happened

It's weird, this season has been a pretty slow burn but at the same time it feels like they are really condensing the timeline of the Second Age in order to squeeze in as many recognizable names and locations as they can. But I'm not super confident on my Tolkien deep lore so don't quote me on that.

Yeah when the previous episode ended with a volcano blowing up, anyone who remembers anything about the movies should have said "oh this is where Mordor is". I dunno, maybe i the fuckin nerd for remembering that!

Herman works for a living, Gomez lives off inherited wealth and only practices law as hobby. Not to mention they've got a butler.

And while they may live in identical haunted houses, 1313 Mockingbird Lane is in a more working class neighborhood.
