having watched it myself now I'd say the mordor scene would've probably been ok had they just not included the text change and trusted the audience to not be thick enough to warrant it. the scene itself had acceptable gravitas

i say swears online posted:they bought tolkein's appendices, which contain some of the silmarillion but not all. so the arc of the show will be the forging of the rings and the consequences thereof, and we've had hints of that direction already. but the first season's almost over and frankly not a ton happened It's weird, this season has been a pretty slow burn but at the same time it feels like they are really condensing the timeline of the Second Age in order to squeeze in as many recognizable names and locations as they can. But I'm not super confident on my Tolkien deep lore so don't quote me on that.
