I found a site that had the color manga and was randomly flipping through chapters and I read the first Grand Fisher fight and got to the end where he gets turned into an Arrancar and it blew my mind because I did not remember that at all. That was some hella foreshadowing.

Just finished the first ep on Hulu... Yamamoto was great as always. "I am here, that is the greatest protection there is." Also, that first Shinigami was right. Why WERE they sent there? Obviously things were handled and it was a literal death sentence for entry level Shinigami to be there. I read the manga and there' probably a reason, but I don't recall. Loved the introduction of the main characters, but couldn't help thinking of all the collateral damage they caused.

The thing is you can see a Quincy at the start of the episode using "bait" to attract more and stronger Hollows. With that being said, it wouldn't be the first time the 13th Squads send unprepared people to their deaths. It has been established at this point in the story that the 13th Squads are either trolls or dicks.
