Don't' remember anything about the original so I didn't have any expectations going in.

Hollow Knight Got kinda burned out so I didn't go for the other endings, but I might go back to it later on. Very satisfied with this one, can't wait for Silksong. Feel like it's one of the few inspired by Souls games that nailed the tone of it. Might make Cuphead the next one on the indie bucket list, idk yet.
