There are only really two optimistic takes we can generally have on how things stand. The first is that the worst could generally be unlikely - election deniers have a lot of hurdles in the way once they're elected. There's an outside chance that once they're elected, they will be too lazy, stupid, incompetent, or otherwise focused on fundraising and clout-chasing that the damage will be relatively minimized. Of course, probably won't be so lucky with the next crop - lot of parallels to Donnie. The second is that there have ALWAYS been shitters in the safe seats and the polling is showing those types losing what should be republican runaways in swing districts. I'm more concerned about the Democrats donating money to far-right MAGA types challenging other Republicans in the hopes that their candidate will face an "unelectable extremist" and get a great big November surprise of them actually getting elected. Can't find the tweet that made this analogy but Biden really is the kid who's turning in all of his assignments at the last second and getting B's on them, although I'd give them mostly B-s except for Ukraine, and even there I do wish he'd shut the gently caress up when it comes to making analogies about the Cuban Missile Crisis.
