Mike Awesome had three Ambulance matches in a row on Thunder, Nitro, Thunder. He beat Sting but lost to Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner. The following Nitro he beat The Wall in an Ambulance vs Table match. Then the Nitro after that he lost to GI Bro in another Ambulance match. Two weeks later at Great American Bash, he beat DDP in an Ambulance match. Awesome would not wrestle another Ambulance match until Starrcade in December, beating Bam Bam Bigelow in his final one.

The best JYD story is when he was "blinded" by the Freebirds in Mid-South, and was sitting at ringside for one of their matches when Michael Hayes comes over and starts harassing him. A fan jumped up, said "I got your back, Dog!" and pulled out a gun. JYD had to weigh breaking kayfabe vs. seeing the Freebirds get shot. Luckily for him, an off-duty sheriff's deputy was also there doing security and managed to disarm the guy.
