Wombot posted:My understanding is that this is a mistranslation/misunderstanding of the report released by Russian sources. In the Russian text, it differentiates between the two trucks - the narrative is that the x-rayed truck brought the goods in to some place, then they were loaded onto the red-cab/white-trailer truck and that's the vehicle that exploded on the bridge. The red truck wasn't x-rayed, it was visually inspected. I still don’t follow. The truck that blew up was visually inspected after it had been loaded with the explosives? Or both trucks went through inspection, one being x-rayed, and then they transferred the explosives over on the ‘clean side’ of the inspection point? Like, neither option makes the Russian security seem competent.

also the whole book is wildly, wildly racist "China was an ancient land with an ancient culture, but in many ways these people might as well have been Klingons as fellow human beings, so detached were their societal values from what Chester Nomuri had grown up with." It makes that "Chinese aren't really human" analogy about 6 more times in case you miss it

Yeah, I'm specifically saying that, according to the source text in Russian, the picture of the X-rayed truck is never meant to match with the red cab truck - they're two separate trucks. That specific claim that "FSB is trying to make us think this X-ray matches this red truck, which it clearly does not" is actually not ever made by the source of those images.

So, the Trump legal argument approach? Just make a bunch of unrelated statements and let those gullible readers you want to influence infer the desired conclusion because you don’t care if for everyone else it’s transparent.

IIRC there is also a part where she goes on about how tiny Chinese men's dicks are. Also the Chinese police kill two Christian ministers who are trying to stop a forced abortion and the world boycotts China in response. Tom Clancy, everyone.

Tom Clancy's books were good until about 1991 when obviously his material sorta dried up. e: the best books are The Hunt for Red October, The Cardinal of the Kremlin, and Red Storm Rising. Patriot Games is okay but a little bit author insert fanfiction-ey. Without Remorse is sort of fun for all the pleasure boating stuff and the campy Death Wish thing. Rainbow Six is so bad it's good. The rest are mostly trash. e2: oh I forgot Clear and Present Danger that one's good too. Mortabis fucked around with this message at 05:21 on Oct 13, 2022 |

Yeah mavic video is incredibly stable. You might get it to jump a little if you do a maximum speed stop in high winds.

It is absolutely insane how good drone cameras are on every level. From relatively cheap consumer drones on up to entirely non consumer drones, it just gets more and more ridiculous. Every now and then some footage from one of the really high end drones gets released and man it's wild what they can do and from what range.
