We played proxy Legacy again last night. I went 0-3 last week but this week I turned it around with Oops All Spells and went 2-1. The deck is hilarious and fun to use. A turn 1 win never gets old, and using Pact of Negation to keep the Azorius Control player from disrupting the combo with Force pitching Force feels very good. My only loss was to 8-Cast, where I just couldn't get a good opener and lost to stuff like Grafdigger's Cage and Pithing Needle. I did manage to get some lucky Force of Vigor draws that slowed him down and almost let me grind out one more win, but drawing my Dread Return with no Thoughseize or Cabal Therapy to get it out of my hand kinda killed me. Overall Legacy was a lot of fun and getting to play it for no actual investment was very nice. I think I'll try some other decks too, but Oops All Spells has that nostalgia for Breakfast Burrito that I love.

Don’t figure it’ll have any kind of meaningful effect on any format, other than you can build a cheap surveil deck for pioneer/explorer using some of the GRN surveil pieces like Dimir Spybug or Disinformation Campaign

I guess DRC, the surveil king, not making any Surveil Matters cards playable meant they didn't care. Also I'd bet a ton of money that it means that Surveil is in BRO.

Which would have been a very good idea if someone didn't get super lucky within 30 pulls and pull the fuckin thing. We still ended up getting rid of a ton of inventory we couldn't sell otherwise this way, once the Lotus was gone I'd just seed another pricy card and folks were all too happy to pull for a dollar.

I wouldn't expect the meta to shift so wildly in so few days after the ban tbh. give it a bit for people to actually build up some fast/wide lists again after their being suppressed by meathook for so long and disincentivize monoB lists that just sit back and wait to play their 5+ mana bombs

Does anyone have the WPN 2022 Consider Promo? Apparently that one was released this year and has Errata'd text according to Scryfall but not sure if they just scooped in some Gathering data for it. Maro had said something about promoting a mechanic to decidious but cant remember where i read it (probably his blog)

HootTheOwl posted:I misread what you were asking, I thought you were asserting that it had been updated, and asking for a copy of the card like it was some rare find you wanted. It's weird that they did this update seemingly at random on a weekend (unless nobody noticed this change earlier in the week?), rather than based on the release of a set. Unfinity and Warhammander came out last week but had neither of Surveil or Landfall, so why are these cards being updated today of all days? That Tatyova doesn't come out until January, and if the Surveil change is in Brothers War then that's still a month off, they haven't actually shown a card with new Surveil text yet. If anything, it feels like they accidentally updated Gatherer early? HootTheOwl posted:Wait, what? Yeah that's the funniest part, it doesn't actually exist as text BUT it does make some cards have more lines of text for Un/Acorn-cards I guess (which also don't exist????) A functional change in the least functional way possible lol Obligatory: no, it does nothing

I think this is a good change to get some congruency and consistency in mtg. If you’re a new player it’s probably pretty daunting just to remember just the evergreen keywords, let alone all the one-offs that show up here and there. I don’t really care one way or the other and I’m always a bit surprised how passionate people are about making sure keywords get used. What was the last card that had a keyworded effect that didn’t have the keyword that also saw meaningful play? Is it just consider?
