Yeah, just from browsing social media, a good percentage of the guys I went to high school with look rough, like they’ve aged at 3x speed. The other guys and most of the women look more or less the same though. Don’t smoke and remember to wear sunscreen, kids.

The sun can really age you, that's a big one. My wife (despite probably not needing to) basically covers herself completely from the sun year round, and she did this especially a lot when she was a kid into her early 30's. Every once and awhile I'll post a photo with her in it on Facebook or something and our friends who haven't seen us since high school/college are amazed that she still looks like her pictures from college. She carries sunscreen with her in her purse, always has on a hat, wears light clothing but clothing that always covers her arms and legs, and is aging in freaking slow motion while I decay into soft bag overcooked poo poo.

EDIT: vvv I knew there was a reason she threw out all the garlic!

Yes and it’s okay when you’re a foreign invader who conquered the kingdom with dragons, because go gently caress yourself we have dragons.

(It’s not really addressed but it might be a Targ or a Valyrian thing or maybe Aegon I was just a dirty sister-fucker so he said it was their tradition. When in doubt, again go gently caress yourself we have genocide as a pet we can do what we want)

So Aegon and bug sister already have a kid right? Alicent is a grandmother? While Rhaeyira is going strong with 5 boys.

She is and it’s a great example of Alicent’s hypocrisy. When she and Rhaenyra were younger, she’d said the Targaryen incest thing was weird. Late on, Rhaenyra suggests betrothing her oldest son to Alicent’s daughter, as a way to make peace after 10 years of their rivalry. Alicent’s all “Hmm, yeah I’ll consider it. Or not.” Cut to 6 years later, her son and daughter are married to each other, the daughter’s saying “Marriage isn’t so bad because he usually ignores you, except when he’s drunk” and the son’s out raping the nanny. Great decision there, Alicent!

It's not tolerated but they have dragons

When Rhaenyra was telling Daemon they should marry she mentioned something about how it's Targaryen/Valyrian tradition.

With Jaime/Cercei I don't think it was traditional, they just didn't care what other people thought.

Incest is only tolerated amongst the peasant classes because nobles don't do their own laundry so it is unrealistic for them to become trapped in their washing machine

Yea I never picked up on the disease being a visual narrative for the Iron Throne and ruling the kingdoms poisoning the king. But in my defense, this is HBO’s Game of Thrones and I never would have expected something that deep to come from it.

I gotta start watching the BTS stuff I didn’t realize was taking place after each episode. I went back and watched it and they talk about it a little, so I’m guessing it was mentioned in an earlier episode, probably when we start seeing more and more of his illness.

I am looking forward to tomorrows episode, since we’ve basically had 8 episodes of build up leading to the big war that starts.

If Joff had been confirmed as an incest baby before he became king it would've absolutely destroyed the Lannisters. He was only safe after because people suspected a political play by Stannis. But as people said the Targs were all walking around with fantasy nukes.

King Jaehaerys imposed "Targaryen Exceptionalism" to the church after defeating king Maegor the Cruel"s "exterminate all the faithful" armies. His argument was that they aren't the first men or the rhoymar or the andals but Valyrian and shouldn't follow the same rule. The high septon in charge (who succeeded after the less tolerant previous one died really obviously poisoned) saw the dragpns, the armies and said "okay gently caress your sisters you perv!". And everyone rejoiced.

Qu'en pense Caffarelli?
Viserys and Rhaenys are first cousins

They're also second cousins once removed

Viserys and Daemon had:

two parents

two grandparents

two great-grandparents

More than two great-great-grandparents, thankfully, although the extra blood there comes from the Velayrons, and Aegon and his sisters were half-Velaryon themselves.

When Rhaenyra is introducing Viserys to his grandchildren, he's also meeting his nephews.

Well there is no time travel and parallel worlds involved here, unless you believe some of the wildest ASOIAF thread theories.

Arguably Bran’s story involves time travel, though nothing ever comes of it beyond a Hodor predestination paradox. Is bug daughter the first show character to be able to accurately see the future? I imagine that nothing will come of her warnings. It would be wild if this show winds up with setting up some element of the Snow series.

Daenerys got some visions in the House of the Undying in Qarth. The maggy's prophecy to Cersei did bite the dust for the valonquar part but is it because it's fake or is it because the adaptation decided to ignore it. For each prophecy in the show there are like 20 more in the books. A lot of them bullshits. You can argue that Daenyis children (the dragons) were the stallion that mount the world but her undead child clearly wasn't.
In term of background prophecies that turned out more or less "true": the Targaryen dodged the doom in Valyria because of one of their daughter's prophetic dreams, Aegon the Conqueror invaded Westeros because of prophetic dreams about the Other invasion and the prince that was promised. Some followers of R'hllor actually see the future in the flames. Other see bullshit visions.
You won't be able to understand most of what Heleana's predictions until you see them happen. She is also far from all-seeing.
If they continue adapting books, she won't be the last dragon's dreamer. There are a few in strategic plot points sooner or later.

Not really that weird, it's your spacey daughter/granddaughter saying something very uncomfortable that everyone knows is true at a very uncomfortable family dinner. The fact that she doesn't seem terribly depressed by her situation is basically the best outcome so they just patronizingly go "well done dear" and focus on the many other disasters they have on their plate.

Helena does say a weird ominous thing very quickly at the start of the scene about something dangerous under the floor. Her other two are very straightforward for a Cassandra-style touched person, but I guess you’d have to know to listen for something intelligible. The thing about one green party and one black party falling apart from their actions isn’t even really a prophecy, insofar as Alicent is already concerned about and wants to avoid open fighting specifically because it might kill her family.

I wonder if Helena will get a vision of Cousin Orson.

This is basically what I've been assuming, also the explanation for why nobody pays attention to her clearly prophetic ramblings. We're just not seeing the 20 lines of complete gibberish for every one line of genuine prophecy.
