been playing judgment, just finished chapter 3. chapters are very long in this, 1 especially game owns though. i had it in my head that it wouldn't be that good but probably my fault for reading the games forum, kept seeing posters there whine about how boring yagami is but yeah been extremely good so far. his fighting style took a bit of getting used to but the solution was to unlock more skills as usual. flux fissure is sick yagami himself is also alright, not quite kiryu but he does keep making the shittiest dad puns which is pretty funny. makes it even harder to believe he's in his 30s or however old he's meant to be

I’m not as crazy about Yagami in and of himself but he pairs up with all the other characters well, I like his dynamic with all the other major characters and especially Kaito

Judgment is an S tier Yakuza game. The tailing stuff is a little whatever but also negligibly easy. The Keihen gang gets annoying later on though. Otherwise the story is awesome and the side content is very strong. Lost Judgment is an even bigger game and the combat is probably the best it’s ever felt. Lesser story imo and the way the side content is distributed through progressing in the school clubs had me kinda wishing for some of it to just be over so I could see other stuff, some of it overstays its welcome. They’re both really good overall. The Yakuza games ftw

The more plot heavy school clubs are all way too long and none of them are very interesting either. I think they did it to have an excuse to get Yagami tied up into more weird side activities that Kiryu would willingly get into but locking progression into basically completing each side activity is annoying. It would have been nice if doing each activity two or three times was enough to advance the plot and then you could go back and finish out the activities 100% and get some non-investigation plot with the students.

at what point should i go into the judgement games? after 6?
|
# ? Oct 16, 2022 18:47 |
|
It’s 6, then Judgment, then 7, then Lost Judgment. Judgment mostly just has a few small references to 6 (One side quest is a sequel to a side quest in 6, a part of the city that was damaged in 6 is still blocked off in Judgment, that’s all that I can remember) so it’s not strictly necessary to play in order but Lost Judgment’s story has a pretty big spoiler for the events of 7.

It’s the blood price that must be paid by newcomers who weren’t playing every game on release ever since the beginning when they were the secret very good PS2 games.

Everything else about it is pretty bad but it's also relatively short, I think I beat it in 20/25??ish hours But absolutely skip 4, watch a recap video. Also the games are pretty well self contained so it's not THAT necessary to play them all

I am replaying 4 because I didn’t remember anything posted in this thread. Akiyama is at least fun to play as so far.

That's the thing, I like all the new characters introduced but the game itself is just kinda forgettable. Also the fact that 5 is basically set up the same way (taking control of different characters in each chapter) and does it 10 billion times better doesn't do it any favors

I’m not like, upset that I played 4 by any means but if you’re gonna skip any game it should be that one I guess. 3 is definitely worth playing because Okinawa and the orphanage is cozy as hell

And yeah 0 is after 4 and 5 and it does the multiple protagonist thing a lot better since it weaves their stories together throughout the game, switching back and forth. Even in 5 which generally handled it a lot better than 4 it kind of blew to play 10-20 hours as 1 character who you would then not see again until the finale. I'd forget characters and events from the first characters' stories by the time they came back at the end
