That Paloni Show special suffers from the usual issues when they give Justin Roiland full creative control of anything, but there's a few good cutaway segments, like the ones by David Firth and Jaime Rodriguez (especially the latter)

It seemed a bit lower-quality than usual, like they couldn't do their usual number of frames.

A really weird thing about Adult Swim shows on HBO Max is how completely inconsistent their censoring is. Watching Metalocalypse and randomly in season 3 there's an episode with the nudity uncensored.

I think the big issue is that the show just isn't great at animating humans. There have been humans in other episodes and I don't think they look great there either, but I think this is the most on screen human characters have been on the show. The regular crew is animated fine, and the scene with Luna and Octavia was particularly well done. But the big crowd shots with the humans felt rushed and pretty rough. Especially when the fans are all over Blitz, the wide shot of all of them in the dust cloud looked like something out of a flash cartoon.

The shot of hero movie star Blitz when he grabs Stolas' hand while the studio is burning down was very funny. Also the name they went with for the movie star was fun

I would like to see at least one scene of Luna showing Blitz she genuinely cares though. I get that that's like, the joke, but the show had made me care about these characters and their relationships. And Blitz clearly cares about Luna like a daughter and I'd like to see that reciprocated every once in a while, TO Blitz and not during a scene with another character (though that scene was real good).

I agree with that. Vivian and co have never great at drawing humans, honestly i think hazbin/helluva boss is when her art style finally clicked and even then I think HB does it better.

I think the venture bros is also uncensored which in the DVD commentary they always are baffled at since the censor bar was the punch line in all these scenes and the dick is really poorly done.

That said the dream where his dad's dick turns into Henry Kissinger is interesting to see both ways.

I thought it was the other way around where they were always shocked at how well the dick was animated even though it was going to be behind a censor bar. I think at one point they mention how they can't get good animation for a car that is in the center of most shots in the episode yet they just mention a penis and the animators give it the smoothest and best animation of anything in the episode.

i mean i agree but its clear that moment is coming probably this season. i mean i give loona some what of a pass because she was basically feral in hell pound/orphanage and its clear hell hounds are basicaly used as kinda of "pet"/servent class even lower then imps. i kinda enjoy HB more then HH. HH is ok for a pilot and i am sure it will be good but i like the designs and poo poo more in HB. it feels less Devient arty design wise. feels more weird hottopic burton/barker instead.

I feel like the dynamic of the trio is very good, as well as Blitz and Stolas. It also probably helps that Stolas in general has kind of stolen the show.

I'm not huge on the pilot of HH either, but I'm willing to give the series the benefit of the doubt. It kind of felt like she really only had Alastor and Angel Dust really figured out as characters. I would hope the extra time in the oven for the series will make the rest of the cast more interesting. But especially Charlie who felt like the weakest part of the pilot.

I wonder if there's gonna me any crossover with Helluva Boss. I could see them maybe trying to keep the main three as their own thing, but Stolas seems like he's a pretty important figure in hell, so do characters like Fizzerolli, Asmodeus and Verosika. I imagine Hazbin Hotel is going to go deeper into the overall workings of hell (like the purge thing that happens every year) in a way that Helluva Boss probably won't ever do.

I will say, I do not want multiple songs per episode like the pilot. That will make me check out pretty quickly.

It would be interesting to have a bit of crossover if the narrative warranted it but keeping things to the early Mavel movie style of passing references to other characters/events would be more interesting imo.

Loona is undoubtedly pretty popular with the furries, but I do agree that Loona is just really cool and has a really satisfying looking werewolfy design. She's a lot of fun to see in motion, especially in fight scenes.

I mentioned the trio and Stolas just because they are more or less the core of the show, but the show is filled with characters that people loved from like day one. Verosika is a hot demon chick voiced by Cristina Vee , Octavia is like this broody emo girl, Asmodeus have an awesome design and a great singing voice, Fizzerolli is obviously hugely popular, not to mention being voiced by Broadway Beetlejuice, Stryker is loving cool as hell AND voiced by Norman Reedus? Whaaat?? I've seen so much fanart for all these characters with maybe the exception of Octavia but I see a lot of love for that character anyway.

It's hard to really pinpoint for me why the Helluva Boss designs overwhelmingly look so good and HH don't really outside of like Alistor and Angel Dust. Blitz especially to me has such a strong design and I wish I could really articulate why

Hazbin was in development for quite some time, so I assume they just refined their creation process as time went on. There's more consistency and sense of purpose in the HB designs too, like the imps are all of the same style, the aristocratic family are all owls, Loona is one of many other hellhounds, etc. Hazbin just didn't have that consistency, it was a mishmash of designs that didn't feel cohesive.

Be interesting to see what the series is like, as they must have learned a lot from HB. God I hope they renamed Vaggie.

It’s because there is uniformity. Upper crust Habsburg daemons are birds, imps all have similar features as do hellhound and other daemons. Apperently hell is like the warp so human souls get their own representation form that fits them and hellborn just look like themselves.

Family Guy still has a much higher ratio of hits to misses. Once you forgive Family Guy for being what it is, a vehicle to deliver as many jokes as possible within 22 minutes, it becomes a lot easier to stomach it and just relax and consume. The Simpsons will never be able to outrun its cultural attaché to Gen Z and Millenials, and will be unfavorably compared to the first 10 seasons forever, because the good years of the Simpsons are literally the foundation of comedy and humor for many/perhaps most of us.
