In Japan, the general term is actually novel game. Visual novel was a specific trademark used by a publisher of them that somehow managed to worm its way into being the general English term.

Visual novels are pretty cool but I wish they’d have no/bad voice acting more often so I could speed read without FOMO. Also wish Phoenix Wright had an option to speed up the text on a slider like 13 Sentinels so I could keep the “intent” of the dialogue sometimes being sped up/staggered without it being slow when reading normal dialogue. Those are my only complaints, visual novels are pretty rad otherwise.

It was originally made for the 3DS, before also being released on the Switch. You can definitely tell it would be improved with a stylus. I'd say if you can get it at around $5-10 you're getting your moneys worth. Honestly if I ever get around to putting  on my 3DS I'd probably give it another crack.
