You have to meet the minimum item level obviously, but three friends and a gear requirement as a shorter hurdle than seven friends, in my opinion.

5.5 spoilers: oh my goodness Estinien meeting Alisae and G'raha.  If this was a single player JRPG I know what goofy moron crew I'd be rolling with as my party. Oh sweet Tiamat came back! Also I can't tell if Estinien is fantastic or awful at his job or even both. He sure is cool though."Perhaps we could swap tales over a pot of Tataru's tea?" And hey, this dungeon is tying in all the beastman storylines again with the kobolds helping us fight and the amalj'aa fighting beside us. This story rules. And man is Square showing off their sheer years of experience in nailing visuals. Even if FF14 might be a bit dated in some aspects... well, art direction is king and Square has been leading the field since FF7, if not earlier if you got that real retro grognard taste, like me, heh. Loved fighting the war machine as the second boss, I hope EW is full of insane Garlemald tech bosses. FF games with tech bosses always nail 'em. OH NHAAMA CREEPY POD PEOPLE TOWER! I guess this weekend I lose my sprout. I like it though, it's mine. This is the end of the Shadowbringer patch content so I can only assume "many cutscenes will play in sequence" will precede poo poo hitting the fan.  Leaving off with the start of The Company We Keep. 3 quests to go and I can play the actual game...

Weekly raid report: we made it to P5S enrage, 17%. We've lost a couple of folks (one to a new baby, the other to a muscle injury that makes it difficult to go for even half an hour without resting, ne of the big ones in the back that you forget is there until it siezes up, he's recovering but slowly) so PF searching takes up some of our limited time, but that's the nature of the game. Not consistently getting to the end yet (a flub on Devour can cascade really easily) but it's nice to see progress. Interestingly, for healing done we all parsed 90+ (my bard was a 100-parse) which if I understand what counts for that means that we're nailing our defensive cooldowns. Probably also that most of the people parsing are so good they don't need to hit them. If everyone's geared enough to take 10% less damage for example, they're gonna have 10% less healing done with the same cooldowns. Bruceski fucked around with this message at 03:32 on Oct 28, 2022 |

At this point, I think I'm ready to declare 6.2 as the best patch in FFXIV's history. Literally every feature of it has been great! Main story? Fantastic Raid story? Super interesting Raid fights? Cool af MSQ Trial? My favorite ever in the game Island Sanctuary? A great side activity with amazing future potential Variant Dungeons? Another incredible feature that I can't wait to see expanded Criterion Dungeons? A welcome addition Omicron Trible Quests? Some of the best writing in the game Has there been any other patch that has brought this much in a single patch and had it all be good?

Criterion dungeons blind with half my savage static has been my absolute favorite thing I've done inthis game. Complexity of movement of a tougher EX but fast and with fewer people is basically perfect.

Also I'm a little ways into Stormblood, just hit the first fight with Zenos, and there's some messaging that could be very easily spun by the Alliance/Resistance. Behold, the broken blade of Zenos, blunted on the Warrior of Light as he drives back the invader! The viceroy flees, his slaughter of innocents foiled, Flame General Raubahn, the Bull of Ala Mhigo, graciously allows Zenos' retreat with the words "There has been enough death today!" Scions do not hire me, I would be a terrible PR man.
