His speech was just to save face. Starting to demobilize the road blocks at 3:30 when voting ends at 5 is meaningless. Moraes probably was told "no" and then realized that if the federal police didn't want to comply there was nothing he could do. So he folded like a chair.

I was already worried with vote turnout because I heard of several people who said they wouldn't be able to vote for 2nd round anyway because their election regions are far away from where their live and going there a second time would be impossible. Whether it manages to bring a victory however, I don't know, but it will make a low enough marging for all sorts of claims of chicanery.

Given these initial results, in a normal situation it would have been a good sign for Lula. Lula is ahead of both his share at the same time in the run off and where Dilma was at the same stage.

But that is, of course, because late counting NE votes would generally flip it to him. So it will be a few hours to see if the trend holds. But I think it is safe to say given current results that the only way that Lula loses it is if PRF really disrupted massive amounts of votes.

My one concern is that counting is happening faster in the NE compared to the first round, which might be an indication of significantly fewer votes.

That was the RTP commentary take, which I assume it means the Luis Marques Mendes take is a liveleak of him with a revolver on a PT voter's child's mouth, and him squeaking "Look, we have to find a compromise between me shooting you in the mouth and your selfish, populist, ungrateful, radicalist stance of not wanting to be shot in the mouth" and the talking head on the other side berating the child for not sounding convincing enough. Maybe Franscisco Lou�a shows up and stress pukes on the spot and that gets stated as the counterargument.
