Economically speaking, even if social security is bankrupt, wouldn't it make more sense to rotate the old people out of the workforce for the unemployed young people?

this is nothing new. he’s been brandishing this reform since 2019 and thankfully back then it got stopped by covid. also it’s an outright lie to say that social security is bankrupt. increasing the legal retirement age is mostly just a ploy to reduce pensions. and it’s not going to be stopped by protests either this time. union led demonstrations are increasingly weak. people are legit afraid of protesting thanks to his brutal repression of the gilets jaunes. they’ve also largely been contaminated by terminal theresnopointitis. at this point the british (the loving british!) are better at striking and demonstrations than the french.

HallelujahLee posted:isnt the ruling party some lovely right wing party that carrys a veil of being "social democrats" Yes. They previously sold control of the national energy grid to Goldman Sachs. They're also planning on shipping refugees to a concentration camp in Rwanda. The nominally left-most party, the Unity List, made complete fools of themselves recently by refusing to consider the Rwanda camp plan a dealbreaker, they would only withdraw support from the government once a person was actually put on a plane. Then the Social Democrats proclaimed they would seek a coalition across the aisle anyway. I briefly considered voting for the Free Greens, they've actually said some incredibly radical stuff lately, that we need to end private property and expropriate agricultural land, etc., and most of their candidates are non-white, but they're polling at 0.7% and unlikely to get in.

Social Liberals who forced the election are getting loving crushed. Voters did not reward the Unity List for their "pragmatism", either. Oops. The Liberal Alliance party looks to be almost quadrupled. A lot of first-time voters apparently liked the TikTok politician who goes by the moniker "Daddy". The nazi parties who've replaced the Danish People's Party all did extremely well. President Putin please send RS-28 Sarmat "SATAN II" MIRV-equipped super-heavy intercontinental ballistic missile, my people yearn for death.
