I'm tempted to say "free lobster shirt" because the reason for their probe was bullshit but my heart's not in it because if you post in QCS you should reap the whirlwind

Much is made of this but the auto industry's involvement, while nasty, was pretty small, that woops was mostly because we are a suck rear end country. the rise of car culture was mostly brought about by a period of extreme wealth, racism/white flight, and america's cultural ideal of rugged individualism.

My grandma would tell me the US sold the steel tracks to Japan, who melted it down for bullets to shoot at us during WW2. Not sure how accurate that is but lol

It cracks me up when modern urbanists pretend that the US can successfully revitalize our infrastructure. The political system is moribund. We don't have another successful project in us, and it's certainly not going to be bike lanes. Maybe concentration camps, not bike lanes or light rail tho

Admit I don't know that much about it. I read Internal Combustion a few years ago, I'm interested to hear more.

I think our closest possible future out of all the possible futures is this, but women will probably become infertile, like a cross between this/children of men

People are trained or conditioned to be hostile to outsiders, minorities, women, over time. it makes me think of this fwd:fwd:fwd:fwd: that I posted a while ago in which rule #6 and the bit at the end are about how friendly they are and most of the rest is about how unfriendly they are

The only ways the us could not be a shithole are all basically intervention from outside, destruction of every social structure in the us and imposition of an entirely new culture and social order lol

Sometimes I forget that present day America is better than it was immediately after 9/11 because at least the empire is killing itself from within rather than slaughtering innocents overseas (to a lesser extent, I hope)
