So if I’ve got $7 in digital Amazon credit burning a hole in my pocket, what should I spend it on? I was thinking an audiobook or audio drama, I already have Infinite and the Divine, Lords of Silence, and the Ciaphas Cain one. What should I spend my money on?

Imagine if the golden girls were combined into one character and then put in charge of a navigator house after her husband's death while chaos schemes on the planet. It's really great I recommend it. Haven't listened to the audiobook though, only read.

Finished The First Heretic today and y'all weren't wrong, it's good. It kind of loses steam towards the end because Argel Tal is kind of unnecessary to the whole big picture, but it was satisfying enough. Next, I think I'll finally get around to The Emperor's Legion I got in that recent Humble Bundle.

Tried getting back into the HH, got to Descent of Angels (the first Dark Angels book) and that has completely stalled my interest. Holy gently caress that book was awful. Definitely skipping anything DA related from here on out. Have the Votann been in any BL books yet?

The Descent of Angels is a historically bad BL novel, easily the worst of the HH series by a wide margin from all others except the other Dark Angels novels. There are a few others that should absolutely be skipped, but congratulations, you've hit rock bottom and bounced. It's all better from here. Someone will probably chime in with a curated list, go with that. Those of us who read the whole thing in release order as it came out don't wish that experience on anyone. Even you.

I don't know what got me to try to read it this time. And yeah, I know about the squats, I just don't keep up on BL releases so I wasn't sure. Been in the hobby since about halfway through 3rd ed.

I liked Descent of Angels but yeah it’s basically 3/4 of a Warhammer fantasy book so no surprise it gets a lot of hate. I found it fun/interesting to get the source material for what the dark angels have been larping about all this time. I think the latter/middle HH line has much worse books - Damnation of Pythos bored me to tears.

DA really does need some good novels honestly. I like their concept in 30k with the mystique, knight like orders that are super specialized and was why I liked the Lion Primarch book. 40k DA are... bland and I really wish some good authors would try out writing them

Good morning fellow black librarians, I am hoping you can help me with an audiobook problem. I bought the audiobook humble bundle, downloaded the mp3s, whacked them onto my phone and am now having problems managing them. I can play them via the built-in android player but it randomly pauses and forgets where I am. I can't play them via Spotify even though I have said it can play locally found files or by adding the folder to a playlist. So what I am asking for is a recommendation for a decent audiobook player for Android. Thanks Notaspy (I don't know why I have done this like an email but here we are)

It seems like, story line wise, they're building to their story being one of the primary ones, given that Luther's out in the wild, and I want to say that there was suggestion that the Fallen were gathering on a planet for a climactic duel. I think probably the best way to use them is to have them hunting heretics if you want them to be seen as "good guys". Their chapter is built around secrecy and ferreting out secrets so having them deployed to a planet in the midst of a chaotic uprising (or genestealers) would be ideal.
