I'd say the opposite works though, that poltergeists are the ghost version of goblins. Just messing up kitchen cabinets and switching TVs on and off for days.

im surprised there havent been more like catlike or racconlike goblins. theyre obvious real life analogues to goblins in how they act and the classic poem 'goblin market' even calls out a goblin with a cat's face. and like goblins, you can play cats and raccoons for horror or for cuteness.
