A few new books on Russian tactics and strategy came by my desk at the Jubal E. Early Warfighter Training academy where I teach the cadets macroorconomics I’ll summarize some of them for you as it might help in understanding the latest maskirovka at play: First is Ensnared by the Orc, a treatise on Russian defense in depth and elastic defense doctrines by Rear Admiral (ret) Tara Philips. Probably nothing anyone here doesn’t know, but the thesis seems to support telegram OSINT that the so called Kherson ‘retreat’ is brilliant deception and the fresh soldiers just might end up whetting Putin’s insatiable orceptite The Admiral returns with a book analyzing trends in Russian and Soviet peace treaties, from the late Hyborian Age to today. She contends that far from the heavy handed brute it is thought of, Russian land and population swaps as part of peace negotiations, even in wars where they were victorious have been unusually generous, often sacrificing their own territory and citizens in order to make peace. Special analysis of the Brest-Litovsk and Ogre Kingdom DMZ, and Winter War treaties are handled here in a depth you usually don’t see. Lastly in Claimed by the Orc, the history of Russian Imperial territorial claims in Eastern Europe and especially Ukraine is examined. It is a gripping tale of the unsated ambition of a large and powerful conquerer, whose repeated thrusts into the interior of Europa brought the world to its knees. Honestly it was a lot drier than the other two books and I’d only recommend it to real history aficionados.

good job losing the only regional capital you managed to capture in your entire dumb war Russia 👍 it’s starting to feel like this war is Soviet-Finland all over again, the Russians MAYBE will get the bare minimum slice of territory, but they’ve been completely demolished as a credible military power and won’t come back from this for twenty years, now their strategic outlook is permanently crippled with a full Nazi Ukraine on their border. militarily speaking they are off the world chessboard for the next few decades. Al-Saqr posted:good job losing the only regional capital you managed to capture in your entire dumb war Russia 👍 I'm sorry Al-Saqr I'm not going to yell at you too loudly but that is a complete garbage understanding of history because the Finns ended up having to give up more territory than the Soviets were originally gunning for at the precipice of that conflict the whole point of anticommunist propaganda surrounding the Winter War is that it proved the Soviets sucked at warmaking by only ever focusing on the first half of it and never mentioning the end result one might argue that what Russia has achieved so far, and what they may end up having to settle for, represents far less than what they would have wanted - a land bridge to Crimea and whatever they could bite out of the LPR and DNR sectors isn't worth all the casualties and hardening of hearts against them, but at the minimum that makes this worse than the Winter War, not a close analogue

Given that the russian political class is absolute smol bean tier when it comes to using their soldiers its not going to be like the winter war. The russians gave up socialism to wear blue pants and rip each other to shreds. They aren't going to go fight for some epik Russian Imperial project.
