I've heard good things about chocolate egg creams, but that's one of those things that you need to have fresh-made to get the proper experience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMGiOumwljY

There's attempts to make a bottled version, but I don't remember liking it much. I've seen them in the kosher section

There's also been chocolate variants of popular sodas that I've never tried.

I think there's something chemically weird about chocolate where it doesn't mix all that well as just one of many flavorings. Even chocolate ice cream sometimes tastes weird to me, like it's a lot duller than just having chocolate sauce on top of something. It's different from fruit flavorings or vanilla.

Chocolate egg creams are great, when I was younger we occasionally went to a museum that had an old timey soda fountain that made stuff like that, and it was always a treat. I feel like they need a creamy component though, unlike just chocolate flavored soda.

I don't think I've ever had the diet chocolate, but canfield's 50-50 is top tier, like Squirt but better.

Canfields diet chocolate was one of my favorite sodas as a kid and I'm legitimately baffled that people think it's gross. Like, I love circus peanuts, but understand the many reasons why someone might find them gross. But Canfields is just... good?

Now I have to wonder, was there ever a commonly available soda brand that had a non-diet chocolate flavor? It seems weird that diet chocolate was a common thing but I don't think I've seen a regular version.

There were attempts in Sweden. This is from the 1970s, before I was born.

And this is from the 1980s. Everyone tried it exactly once. Chocolate and the acidity of carbonation is a terrible combination.

I make a sort of knock-off egg cream at home sometimes. Soda water, whole milk, chocolate syrup. Not as good as the real thing from a soda fountain, but not bad either.

It's a piece of JUNK!
Over the summer I started mixing cold brew coffee (concentrated) with soda water and some kind of syrup. It's almost just making Coke again, but if you don't overdo the syrup and the cold brew is good, it can be really nice.

It's pretty normal to put a little grape jelly to add a bit of sweet, fruity flavour to otherwise savoury dishes. Lots of pizza places put it in their sauce.

I'd never heard that about pizza places. But yeah part of the weirdness to me is I liked the sauce even though I hated yellow mustard. And I feel like you wouldn't expect them to go well together. Mustard and jelly sandwich? I thought about it and I think if the sauce was like a nice jam like fig or something and mixed with a spicier mustard that might actually be legit good.

I was amazed to learn this was a real thing, when I first heard about it in Kenny Starfighter (no relation) I thought they had just made it up as a joke.

I enjoyed stuff like this as a kid but it's pretty depressing to me now. And the insane salt/fat content makes me feel terrible after, I basically can't eat biscuits and gravy anymore.

I skipped about a bit, and I didn't see anything terrible in there?
I liked how she said that she couldn't give an exact quantity of flour to use for the roux because its all dependent on how much fat you get from the meat.
Just nice and honest - in reality you have to eyeball that stuff.
It's very much not an everyday breakfast, but once a week can't hurt too much.

Espresso tonic is really good too - a couple of shots of espresso, tonic water and a lime wedge over ice. Pretty nice with coldbrew as well.

My chocolate of shame is when I ran out of all other sources of caffeine in the apartment and just made a cocoa powder and hot water drink. Not awful if you like bitter.

I planned ahead and just made cocoa oatmeal instead the next day instead of eating my oatmeal and wondering why my caffeine hit was going to come from.

Was Yoohoo a soda? I remember seeing it around and hearing that it wasn't chocolate milk despite being some kind of nebulous chocolate drink, but I never tried it.

No, you're right, at least everywhere I've seen it, it's been basically a fake chocolate milk without the milk part.

Liver burger would probably be alright tbh, the texture isn't very appealing anyway and it's strongly flavoured so season it up some and fry it good with a bunch of minced onion and it'd probably be alright.

I love this. I've only ever seen it at one indie coffeehouse here in metro Detroit (sadly too far to enjoy it as often as I'd like) and one indie coffeehouse in Cozumel, where the owner very excitedly asked me afterward if I liked it and went on for some time about how unexpectedly good it was. A bonding moment. :3:
