Early Access. 81% positive out of 27. Should be in early access for a year. Looks like a more grounded take on a Viking citybuilder

Makes me wary when games lead with the Hollywood misuse of Viking for the Norse. It's the same way Ninja was used in the 80s.

This does look like more than a tripe power fantasy though. And sounds like it's doing Frostpunk's cold management.

Dunno if it's worth the price they're asking though

Word of warning on this one for completionists: the devs did something with their "special puzzles" and they're not currently completeable. They also did one of those "puzzle of the day" setups, with 365 puzzles...and you can't access ones you missed until they come round again...and the achievements are for doing up to 300 of them in a row.

And some quick feedback:

This game is busted and not very fun right now. Maybe could be good but needs a lot more time in the oven.

This game is fun and relaxing. Nice whimsical art and dioramas that are fun but not too hard to solve. A good time.

Good art and stuff but the controls are weird since it came from a mobile game. You can get used to them, and it's okay when you do I guess but overall not really any point to play this on PC. Would be a cool mobile game I guess if I played mobile games.

You know what, I've played weirder and dumber things for more money, I'll give it a shot. I love playing weird "10 people have ever played this" games.

Edit: Holy christ this is the most obnoxious game ever. The dialogue for every character is just a noise. It's pokemon. One thing says "Nom nom nooomnom NOM!" and the other says "Hai hai haaaaai haihai!!!" and so on and so forth. They will literally do 30 text boxes back and forth of this poo poo. Every character except one does this, and that character is the tutorial computer (which is semi hidden away). The rts gameplay is weird but passable, the platforming is functional but boring, the shmup section was shmupsy but obnoxious. There is platforming on the main menu, to get to game start and load and such. I will go more in depth once I have beaten it assuming I can hold out that long.

Jesus christ this game was bad. I can forgive a ton of indie jank if the game has a good plot but considering after beating 10(?) bosses all the dialog still looks like this...

Long slow walks outside of combat, lengthy unpleasant fights with occasionally no checkpoint setting you back upwards of 5-10 minutes on some of the nastier guys. Just generally not a pleasant game.

Mobsters, monsters, and mysteries — welcome to Shadows over Loathing, the shady side of an already black-and-white world, and a follow-up to the award-winning West of Loathing.

Your Uncle Murray has requested your aid at his antique shop in Ocean City, but upon your arrival the old man is nowhere to be found. Your investigation into his disappearance and the artifacts he’s been collecting takes a turn when you stumble across some shadowy plots (and a bunch of squirming eldritch tentacles) that threaten to bring about the end of the world.

Explore a sprawling open world chock full of danger, quests, puzzles, and stick figures in this single-player comedy adventure/RPG set in the prohibition era of the Loathing universe. See how many enemies you can stuff into a phone booth as the athletic Pig Skinner, control the curds and whey of the cosmos as the cunning Cheese Wizard, or march to the beat of your own inscrutable purposes as the hip Jazz Agent.

Features:
Thousands and thousands of jokes, gags, and goofs
A bunch more locations, items, friends, foes, and familiars than West of Loathing
The same quality line art you’ve come to expect, but way more of it
Superior stick-figure customization
Strategic turn-based combat (but only if you want it)
A corrupt government for you to overthrow at your leisure
Authentically baffling 1920s slang
Multiple cursed antiques
Inappropriate fishing
Non-Euclidean horrors from beyond the edges of the screen
A time-travel side-quest given to you by your future-self
An infinitely tall building
Sentient math, talking frogs, and pettable cats
No booze, as far as the feds know

Kingdom of Loathing was a great web RPG thing, and West of Loathing really owned, so I have pretty high hopes for this.

(edit) 98% positive reviews out of 51, with the lone thumbs-down saying "Amazing game. I recommend buying it immediately!!!"

The developer of a beautiful-looking, Sonic-like 3D platformer, Lunistice, has begrudgingly added a High-Res option for playing the game with modern resolutions, while keeping everything else about the PS1 aesthetic, which is what I was looking for. (Compare to Frogun, which has an N64 aesthetic while also allowing modern resolutions.) It's in v1.02, released today. I feel like I played too few PS1/N64 games (FFIX, Spyro the Dragon, Rugrats, the Frogger remake, DK64) and was too young, about eight, to have much nostalgia, and emulators overwrote the memories of the original graphics

Character skills that grow as you perform the relevant actions
And much, much more!

Early access, about $20 (on sale from $22). I saw the developer posting about this elsewhere. Solo dev and this is a passion project he's been working on for seven years. It has a demo. 21 reviews right now, all positive.

I haven't tried it yet, whether it is any good or not probably depends largely on how the combat is.

100% positive out of 19. Never played the others in the series but looks like it might be fun.

You mess with the crabbo...

I played the first two and they're good stupid fun. Wishlisting for future sales though, since I'm not sure it'll be :10bux: worth of good stupid fun.

There's only one original McPixel. For some reason they skipped 2, probably as a joke

Oh lol, I remembered playing the first one but added the second one in too when I read too quickly that the joke "trilogy" bundle had the one item I hadn't purchased yet. They got me, drat my bad memory :negative:

(My opinion hasn't changed from just the first game, though)

This one is a fun little title that has a lot of little bugs that make it annoying to play at times. Various "optional" (you are forced to take 2 per day minimum) sidequests are 100% failure rate because it doesn't seem to recognize the win condition for them, like "get 5 stars for the day" failed me after I got 5 stars for the day, or "positive corporate review" same deal. Also gives you access to the tech tree before the tutorial tells you what to buy so you can spend your points on the wrong thing and just be locked out of the tutorial for a while. Customers also magically know when you have an unlocked new tech and will complain if you don't have it available even if it turns out you can't actually turn on the new tech due to it having specific use requirements (I unlocked vending machines before something that would give me biofuel or w/e and so I could place it down but it wouldn't work, ended up having to restart the game because 7/10 customers were coming in then leaving because I didn't have a vending machine)

Edit: It also has an extremely extensive content warning system that lets you cut out whole topics that bother you, but it leaves me wondering just what in the world would be left since it tags things like death or catastrophe in what appears to be a dystopian pre-apocalyptic story. Kinda want to try it with all the content warnings set to "don't show me this" and see just how different it is.
