How could anyone expect Woolie not to go back and undo tragedies with all the back-up saves he makes? I thought everyone was only looking forward to his reaction to the initial fuckups, which we got.

Woolie can be stubborn and I figured he might be too into the purity of the blind LP to redo choices in this context.

Jacob dying in the suicide mission makes the mission he's supposed to be in for me3 insanely funny because the camera keeps lingering on the random npc that replaces in meaningful ways even though you have no idea who he is

jacob and tali died in my suicide mission and i just rolled with it. the npc who replaces tali is an incredibly racist admiral iirc, so it made doing right by my good friend legion easier

it got overshadowed with the suicide mission, but honestly my favorite part of the stream was that Woolie was really interested in the Destroy/Rewrite dilemma as soon as it came up, spent a lot of time talking about the morals of the respective choices and thinking through possible outcome permutations and what the right choice would be, and then when it got to the actual decision-time, Legion says:

:awesomelon: shepherd-commander, you must be the one to choose their fate. we lack consensus. our higher-level programs split 573-571 in favor of rewriting, that's how conflicted we are. your outside perspective is necessary.

...and Woolie immediately went 'what i'm hearing here is that Legion democraticaly voted for Rewrite, so i'll just go with that' and pressed the Rewrite button.

eh, most of it's pretty logical, but there are some hitches. since the crew escort is presented as an important choice on the same level as second party leader, vent person or biotic shield, it's easy to think you're meant to pick your tankiest unit to be a meatshield for the crew, when the "correct" option is to send one of your brittle bones tech support guys because it's the only check that boils down to "did you send a party member y/n". then the hold the line segment is about the characters you don't choose, which the player isn't generally primed to do so most would just pick their favourite characters for the final boss

let's be real here, most people just get easy no death runs because everyone loves mordin and tali, while most of the heavies are boring as sin and woolie is a crazy person for putting zaeed of all people on his team

expecting woolie to not run that back is insane. 99% of us did that (if you weren't a scumbag & got everyone loyal). iirc it's impossible for miranda to die if she's loyal and recruited everyone lol.

the mood during his first ending was so dire and not fun that it would have been a huge bummer for him and reggie to end on that. i didn't quite catch the ending to the everybody survives ending- was he enjoying that better? ME2's suicide run and perfect ending is very hype very 80s action movie, which I loved.

I also seem to remember there being a lot more enemies when I played it and his suicide run fights seemed kinda empty. but I also only played on Extreme difficulty bc that's how much i can lift

Cry Havoc and let slip the Hogs of War
I made the same mistake of sending Grunt back with the crew when I first played it. And then I took my favorite members with me to the final battle which was Garrus and Tali. Mordin ended up dying. I ended up having a "perfect" playthrough later, but I always kept my first run saves and continued with them

I don't know if save editing works with the LE edition, but at some point, Woolie should see what would've changed if he kept Tali and Mordin dead. Like a 2nd gig for Mass Effect

Woolie's playing on normal still, I think. He's only dying like 20% of the time to a badly-judged vanguard rush.

You can save edit the Legendary Edition. Woolie's current save is already an edited one because he had someone mock up a femshep that made most of the same choices as Reggie's manshep. I think he did change the outcome of the Bring Down the Sky mission so that the hostages were rescued though. He also originally had a fully custom class whose powers were all the unique powers for each Shepard class, but he had it changed to be a normal vanguard after a couple sessions. People were mad about the hacked class, but eh, it's not like that would've been ridiculously OP since all the powers have a blanket cooldown timer in 2 and you can't reduce it down to ignorable levels until 3. He should hack in all the powers again in 3 and have fun with it there.

it was pretty good, they were both relieved when the replay ended ok, were more engaged with the post-mission cutscenes, went back and talked to the crew and visited the shadowbroker base to look at some more of the personnel files and stuff there, called it a day before doing Arrival

i think the whole thing worked out pretty well, the viewers got the spectacle of woolie and reggie reacting to a surprise Bad End (but it was down to an opaque game mechanic rather than a mistake that people would try to make a meme of ragging woolie about), both they and the chat agreed they should go back and correct it (which only took about 15 mins), and they ended in good mood

Paige Outer Wilds: Unbelievably great start for her, she gets into Giant's Deep's atmosphere and within 2 seconds she's grabbed by a hurricane and thrown back into space. She tries Brittle Hollow, lands on a section that immediately falls into the black hole, shunting her into space again. Completely rejected by 2 different planets in about 1 minute.

e: she spaced herself and died of no oxygen seconds before the sun went supernova, lmao.

Does anyone else think Pat's mod Queequeg's bit of putting the chat in emote only mode whenever there's any kind of puzzle has gotten old fast?

Like they even did it when Pat found one of those poems in Ragnarok so the chat couldn't help him figure out the reference (not that he needed help for that). I forget what was going on but at some point even Pat asked them to knock it off cause he didn't want to have the stream getting stuck. I'm not sure if they did it for Paige's Outer Wilds stream as part of the bit or because that game is easy to spoil but the whole thing seems to be emote only at least since her initial takeoff.

Like yeah, it's a funny bit to watch them flounder sometimes, but personally I feel like it's getting overdone and bordering on malicious.

It got put into emote only shortly after take off and Queequeg was warning chat people to not use the Yes and No emojis (and might have been giving people timeouts after the warnings when they kept doing it, I dunno.)

Meanwhile Paige (for the bit I watched) was having big space anxiety and wasn't understanding the controls both literally (how to stay locked on/the symbol for L3, how to hit autopilot, how to boost in the spacesuit, how to get out of the ship), and figuratively (how to fly a spaceship while dealing with orbital mechanics, what it meant by landing gear broken and how to repair it, etc).

Like...tell the poor girl how to control the game if the tutorial cave didn't do a good enough job for her.

I imagine they're doing it in all of Pat's streams, I just don't watch them all.

They were also yelling at chat to not use the Yay/Nay emotes until Pat told them to knock that off. I'm watching it now and she really needs some help with basic controls and mechanics stuff, at least so far. I just hope she doesn't end up hating it and ditching the game.
