A lot of people will be inconvenienced when Twitter finally kicks the bucket, and there's been surprisingly little coverage of the whole debacle in non-niche Japanese-language sources, so a lot of people are going to be blindsided by this. My one college buddy who lives in Japan has bitched repeatedly about Japanese social media sucking really hard, so I can believe it.

I don’t use twitter much beyond whet I read here but a lot of people get all of their news and social connections from it. I am sure a lot of us here get it from these forums the same way. . Elons going to kill twitter. And some people will not think they can live without it either. It’s going to impact them really badly. And their families too.

The death of Twitter is genuinely gonna mean thousands of people fail to make rent that month

Lol I heard a very credible insider story that Elon got an explicit in person warning from Twitter Blue lead engineers that rolling out the blue check mark hastily could be abused in a variety of ways. Elon decided to fire at least one of the tech leads and the rest is history.
