It reminds me of this episode of the F Plus Podcast where they read from this lady's website which is basically her...""autobiography""? And it's all about her being this Forest Gump like figure who just so happens to know all these famous rock stars and was totally the one to give them the idea for such and such song and was the direct inspiration for all this famous stuff because she was very important close friends to people like Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson or something. It was incredibly bizarre and self-indulgent and it was all I could think of during the last half of that video and I wish I could remember the name of the episode

it's the perfect type of thing for his type of bragging, very well known not frequently watched

It was a (popular?) show on MTV back in the day, where celebrities showed off their mega-mansions. Definitely a flex if you're just a guy who does video game music. "Hey guys, I'm so rich and my house is sooooo awesome I was on MTV Cribs :smug:" There's just not really much of a reason to feature him though because this was definitely a show for the mega mainstream celebrities, like Shaq and Britney Spears. Even after being on G4, I feel like Tallarico was still too niche to be featured on MTV, and I don't mean that as a dunk or anything

Side note: Gorillaz did an episode on Cribs and it is the only good episode

We're talking about a man obsessing over a sound used in Roblox (and many other places), do you think his ego isn't big enough to lie about that after that 40 minutes Harry Potter Bomberguy spent on the Guinness records he 'won'?

Most of the wild, tricked-out mansions on MTV Cribs were secretly rented by the musicians just for the shoot. The notable exception is Redman, who pissed off the MTV crew when they showed up to his real home and realized it was a crummy 2BR:

Tommy is the inverse where he wasn’t actually on MTV Cribs, but he really did live in a garish clown house.

A funny thing is that it has since come out that MTV Cribs was also a bunch of bullshit where show producers would fake everything. The houses were usually rentals alongside all the fancy cars that celebrities supposedly owned.

Kinda? It's the most pop culturally known showcase of ostentatious homes. So if that manner of gratuitous wealth is something one finds aspirational, then I guess the answer is yes. This question does make me kinda curious about what Tommy's house actually looks like. Here's the first video I found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrcMg7Q0w-A

The main thing I notice is... kitsch. It's just jam-packed with nerd memorabilia and other random poo poo. Like the room with his "makes me need to pee" fountain.

Compare it to something like, say, Snoop Dog's actual Cribs segment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGbWGnv7_vE

Snoop just has a normal'ish big house with some fun outdoor stuff, a tacky decor, and a professional workspace.

Yeah it just makes him sound more important to say he was on the show a bunch of uber celebrities were on rather than some niche Tech TV knockoff where the people touring his house spend the whole time telling him his house is loving hideous.

Nobody ever seems to mention that the other guy on that show rated Melee a 3. Higher score than TT but still a pretty bad score. I guess the other guy never tried to lie and say he didn’t rate it stupidly low.

Mench'n-a-go-go-baby!
I mentioned it a page or two back but I can kinda see how a super serious gamer reviewer dude who has to power through every game that came out in the Fall Holiday Shopping season of 2001 that included two new console launches plus the gigantic wave of PS2 games coming out at the same time everyone was waiting since 2000 for, could spend not even half an hour on the title and be unimpressed for reasons that are bullshit to all of us but valid to them. Remember their reviews for each game were only ever a few minutes and even shorter on their original Electronic Playground program. People would have been infinitely more understanding if they had just ever said, "Yeah we only played it for a few minutes and hated it."

And you can really tell they didn't spend any serious amount of time with the title when one of the negatives Tommy tried to bring up somewhere on the internet at some point after G4 and Judgement Day started and more people started finding out about the review is him complaining how cheap the music was in Melee. That it like a lot of the games he disliked were still just using MIDI instrument soundtracks.

Which never made sense when he complained about it in terms of Melee because it was...like one of the first Nintendo games to finally use music that used physical instruments and an orchestra in a bunch of the music tracks. Not all of them but, a lot of them. The loving credits each time you beat an arcade mode would let you pause and would tell you information on what loving instruments were used by the loving orchestra when making the music.

I'm not gonna lie, me either. I figured if you get multi-million dollar record deals that you'd spend it on dumb houses or something. Then what do those dumb houses EXIST for, then? No one? Investment properties that are theoretically worth a lot of money but don't actually do anything? For the entire purpose of being rented out for shows like Cribs?

Those types of houses definitely exist, there was a Drew Gooden video that mentioned how one of Logan Paul’s musical...uhhh entourage I guess? was the daughter of some super rich dentist or whatever who had a house like that with built in bowling alleys and basketball courts and poo poo. It sounds like in certain cases MTV just wanted to sell that kind of image even for people who just didn’t have that (or didn’t have it yet) for various reasons. Like not everyone is into collecting cars or wants to move far away from their family just to live in some mega ridiculous house.

I'm assuming some of them are bespoke houses that were built according to the very specific requirements of a rich person and now the property is unsellable to anybody else.

The jackass guys had some good cribs episodes too. Chris Pontius had two episodes, in the first one he lived out of a truck so he just showed it and the puke stains on the passenger door from him being drunk the night before , then a later episode when he had bought a decent house and he showed it and stains on his bathroom floor from when he poo poo himself and missed the toilet.
