Small parcel shipped from NSW to parcel locker in Victoria, shipped 11 Nov, currently expected to arrive in 23rd.

The great thing about the Aus Post app is that you can see them loving up and sending it to the wrong place in real time. They actually managed to send it to the local distribution centre at the start of the week and then sent to back to where it came from by mistake. Can't they at least chuck it in the priority box after they do that?

The Banter is better in AusGBS
That's deliberate, they will send it back and forth until there's enough to put out for delivery

Another big scam auspost do is dump hundreds of parcels fill out missed delivery cards then dropped them into the post box for the postie to deliver with the regular mail

70cents per "delivery"

Not sure if that's still happening

I ordered something from Big W that ended up getting sent from a store 9kms away from me. I watched it do a 70km lap across Greater Sydney before getting delivered.

Nah it's going to a parcel locker literally at a local Aus Post distribution centre. It's just a regular old fuckup.

Where does one get good fresh slightly chewy cheung fun steamed rice rolls, that ISN'T a sit down dim sum "cart only, no ordering allowed" restaurant, in Melbourne?

And if it has to be from a yum cha cart place, any recs? Went to a restaurant in the west and they wouldn't let me order any, I had to hope the cart with it came by before running out and it never did.

I've had a few banh cuon which are great but I'm after Chinese style with char siu and the sweetened soy sauce.

I work for Big W on the side and this could also just be because Big W is loving incompetent. They only realised the internet could be used for ordering goods and services like 5 years ago.

I placed a personal order after even going out of my way scanning inventory to make sure local stores had heaps of stock of what I wanted and it still got delivered from a store in another state and taking over a month for delivery. Just a poo poo show from start to finish.

My misso found some method to make them at home in a steamer, it's only just passable tho and takes a bit of practice. We buy the char siu from local chinese bbq joint and roll it up in the homemade noodles

Edit: for cart dimsum you can def get it at crystal jade in chinatown, my fav dimsum pick

It was Samoa v Australia in the rugby league World Cup. We’ve also had heaps of flags and tooting horns and fireworks in the middle of the fuckin night in Wellington.

At least I’ve got a new “more red flags than” thing to say, I guess

My favourite bridge is the gateway bridge becausei have a recurring nightmare where i am driving over it and right before i get to the apex my engine doesnt have quite enough power to keep going and i start to slide backwards into traffic and i wake up screaming and i think thats neat

This is from a while back but my wife's car straight up died on the way up the gateway a few years ago and it was a terrifying experience. The shoulders are so narrow you can't actually get out of traffic. Thankfully the bridge people spotted us and dropped the speed limit but for a few minutes people were blowing past at over 100k/hr. A truck stopped and put his hazards on to make a buffer. Good bloke

I just noticed Deliveroo is no longer operating in Australia, so in an attempt to learn why I did a google search and saw a Sydney Morning Herald headline 'All hail the demise of Deliveroo - now bring on the end of delivery culture'.

I can't read the article but they're the only headline I've seen that is overtly excited about this. I know services like Deliveroo have their issues, but what is the beef SMH has with food delivery?

My conservative opinion is that I also dislike 'delivery culture'
Apart from the worker and restaurant exploitation issues, it seems decadent to me or something, I can't really explain it
(people with mobility issues etc. fair enough)

It wasn't really decadent for me/my gf - we still went out to the occasional restaurant, saw friends at new places, etc.

We were just so loving lazy.

I've stopped using them cos most of the stuff around me I like is either walking distance or have their own delivery drivers or I just go and pick it up myself. It's about 30% cheaper not using uber eats.

I reckon something dodgy was going on, because my credit union just started flagging any order I tried to make with them automatically because it routed through to their UK processing center.

I used it a fair bit in the early covid peaks to avoid going out, but hearing about the gross stuff about that industry getting highlighted at the same time made it a troubling. It probably didn't mean much but I tried to tip, but it didn't appear like some sort of slow decline because the whole closure seems so sudden.

I have the best kebab shop in sydney within smelling distance and all the big chains a 5min drive away, no fuckin way am I paying 30% extra plus delivery when I can get it myself and its still hot by the time i get home.

Theres also a shitload of awesome places within walking distance. I only use delivery when Im unable to get off the couch due to already being too stoned to be comfortable leaving the house.
