Off of that link, there was a reply calling the companies hypocrites for sticking with Twitter despite their adverts being shown alongside child sex abuse material offers, and that links to a thread that goes further detailing the issue Twitter continues to have (about accounts posting images, about trade offers, et al). None of which is surprising, but it's concerning to think how much worse that's going to get now that the staffing has been decapitated because a moron is at the helm.

So the right wing as fully embraced Musk, and the alt-right podcast circuit is pushing that he's going somehow going to turn twitter into the American WeChat and drive youtube, facebook, instagram, and tiktok out of business. When confronted with the reasons as to why Wechat is as widespread in China as it is (WePay being the only form of payment most businesses take), the response seems to be "shut up we aren't in China".

That's the general concept he's had in mind for a while now, combining a load of services into his own walled garden where you don't need to leave, and are captive and ripe to be bombarded and utilized, and reusing "X.com" to be it. What he's managing to do instead is wipe out Dorsey's competition (for his new decentralized platform "Bluesky") for him. He's basically trying to recapture lightning in a bottle and doesn't realize that a combination of luck and being in the right place at the right time was what got him started, and everything after that has been built off of that. He wouldn't be able to do it again on a re-roll but will likely never understand that.

Ukraine has engineers that speak Ukrainian already, probably better to use them. The transformers are the hard part, long lead times and not a lot of inventory there.

Russia isn't blowing up transformers, they're targeting substations, transmission stations, and power plants. Substations take 1-2 years to build, powerplants even longer. Power plants are more difficult to destroy, even with cruise missiles, but substations have a relatively high density of critical equipment and can be taken out pretty easily by a single warhead.
