It’s just so incredibly sad how easily available all of the things that seemed contemporaneously sad are through history, and that they just continue to repeat themselves. There are things all the way through the show, and I don’t want to go through and quote chapter and verse, but this is the Russian Revolution. This is the Montagnard. This is something interesting that happened in the Haitian Revolution. This is the ANC. Oh, this is the Earth Gun Building, Palestine. This is the Continental Congress. This goes all the way…I mean, you could drop a needle in the last, I don’t know what is recorded history, 3,000 years, legitimate recorded, I mean, slavery, oppression, colonialism, bad behavior, betrayal, heroism, I mean, it’s a continuum.

yeah that's fair thinking back if the show was focused on the addams comedy of "crazy people doing crazy poo poo to normies' distaste" instead of whatever the gently caress they were doing after the first episode it could have been really good, but they swerved into a complete fantasy setting because ??? e: on the upside, i already saw really angry people over how "woke" it is lol also, andor was really good Truga has issued a correction as of 15:11 on Nov 24, 2022 |

i don't mean it literally as an expanded universe, but the filmography and style and writing and characters hit all the same elements. Mameluke posted:I'm pretty sure the entire reason this poo poo got made was "we cast an adult as wednesday" yea i had this thought when in the middle of watching the next couple episodes and i took a poo poo and realized, "they'd never make a standalone show about pugsly, morticia, gomez, lurch, uncle fester(maybe?), thing or it". there's like a dozen or so porns featuring wednesday i came across growing up and clearly there's a market for her character in a "coming of age" setting. although her nihilist attitude toward american history has always been technically correct luis guzman as gomez rocks and christina ricci makes appearances but at this point i think she's gotten typecast pretty hard lately

I totally understand not liking Tolkien but the man could write the gently caress out of a sentence. the only people on his tier in terms of beautiful and interesting syntax are like Le Guin and Didion. some people would argue Faulkner and I can see their point but I didn’t like his stories enough to feel fully immersed. I'd listen to arguments for Bradbury, haven't read any Nabokov though he gets brought up in these conversations all the time. James Joyce is mediocre. the only time I can really feel anything from him is when he writes about big fat crackers. and my monitor is on.
