It's a known issue unfortunately: https://trello.com/b/rldv58ho/anno1800-known-issues-board quote:Description: The newspaper article that increases residents' needs by 10% because of Schnapps Shortage in the New World island can appear in game even before Schnapps demand is created in the New World due to Hacienda Residencies. I believe it's been in the game since GU14 but wasn't known about until GU15 was on the way (maybe after?) and then didn't make 15.1 either.

I'm not a programmer so I can't say it's easy to fix, but having played many other games with various similar bugs and those got fixed, this doesn't look that difficult? It's a pain in the butt atm.

Mayveena posted:Yes it finally did, I guess I was impatient 😀 If an animal farm is affected by a fertilizer factory it should show a symbol in its other buffs. Also you only need one fertilizer factory in range of the animal farm and put the rest wherever's convenient. Also it quickly starts to make sense to put as much animal product production (beef for canned foods, wool if you can get the right specialists) in the New World to also create as much fertilizer as possible to spread around. As for the Schnapps, yeah it's honestly kind of annoying. Honestly the game has so many DLCs and knock-on effects I'm surprised it's as stable as it is. They cleaned up some of the random issues in update 15.1 where lifestyles were triggering the same complaints even before they'd been fulfilled once (If you never fulfill a need the newspaper should never fire off, but if you fulfill it and then stop your people will miss what they had/others on other islands will get jealous).

The stream is happening for the final DLC of the year. Unfortunately I am hard of hearing and their English is heavily accented so I’m having a difficult time understanding them. If they post a summary I’ll link it here later.

Season 5 I guess?' and roll another tier + electrification to Enbesa as well. Either way, I really hope this 4th season of DLC means that they'll suddenly go 'Hey! The next Anno is coming in a couple months!' sometime next year. I worry that 1800's success as a 'game as a service' might mean Ubisoft is going to do something really stupid with the next one.

Many hope this is a nod to 1800 being considered more or less done and the devs are busy sketching up the next game while they wind down from 1800. And by "hope" I mean I'm pretty sure everyone can hear the game creak and groan under the weight of excellent DLC.

Honestly it's actually astounding how much they've added to the game post-release. I played a bunch around release but then started playing other stuff around the time the first DLCs were coming out, and when I watched a video the other day of someone playing the endgame I'm like, I don't remember that? I don't remember that either. Humm, I don't recognise that. Where did that come from? How does that work? I don't remember any of these screens, what's going on??!

Anno 1800, especially after this upcoming patch, is so far from the game it was at launch. And that is a great thing. It has insane replayability and depth now.

I forget if they hinted at or outright said there was only ever supposed to be season 1 but Covid remote working made it hard to make a new Anno. Season 2 went so well they kept up on Season 3, with most people thinking work on the next Anno is spooling up in parallel.

I do think between S3 and S4 there is bloat and you could have made 1 much better focused season out of the best ideas from both; but the game really has so much content now and is a great product that kept me happy for countless hours. Hopefully the last DLC ends it on a banger, we get some fixes for stuff that pops up and they end it on a high enough note.

Most of Season 4 is heavily focused on endgame, so it's importance to you right now isn't super high. The upcoming DLC has a big island in the New World which may be worth your while however.

Alkydere posted:Almost certainly. I've had the Steam Edition the entire time since I pre-ordered before Epic threw money at Ubisoft for exclusivity. Yeah, but that's because you bought it through Steam. Ubisoft does not typically hand out Steam keys for games purchased through Epic or Ubi stores. I would be extremely surprised if that turns out to happen here. Anno posted:What's been the opinion on the Season 4 DLCs? Deciding if I should grab them now on a slight sale since I want to start a new game soon. The Hacienda DLC is in the running for most powerful in the game, just shy of Bright Harvest and Land of Lions. Hacienda farms are absurdly good and fertilizer boosts all farm production for minimal effort. The airship DLC is pretty good, more middle of the road power wise but nice quality of life and fun to play with. I expect the third DLC to be a lot of fun too with huge buffs to the New World in general. tl;dr: They're good and worth buying on sale.

A Steam copy will still run through uPlay (as a launcher) so the odds of them giving you a steam key are close to none. If you have the game on another service you can always add it to your steam client as a non steam game if you want to. Zedd fucked around with this message at 21:40 on Nov 24, 2022 |

I'd say the weakest two of the entire bunch is the Botanical Gardens and Sunken Treasures but if you like beauty building they're both still more than plenty cool. The later stuff starts getting really neat in how it actually integrates with other DLCs too. Like even the relatively simple Bright Harvest (adding grain silos for animal farms and tractor barns for farm fields) will blow your mind at how powerful they are.

Yeah I think it makes the most sense just to buy the season passes, each one has enough worthwhile stuff in it that would cost just as much as the pass if you bought them individually, so you might as well just get all the cosmetic stuff as a bonus.

I try to stop myself from abusing it, I use it to give infinite raw mined goods and wood because otherwise there's a hard limit to what I can support but aside from that I try not to dip into it too much. I've experimented with different Docklands house rules (like 1 per session, 1 per game, 1 per housing level reached - total of 5 for investors). My default now is to govern it by limiting the export offices, because that's where the abuse can really creep in and undermine a game. I allow one import/export slot per level of population on the island, and no DL on any island that doesn't have native artisans or above. I also have a cap of 1 legendary industrial specialist per game, period. And only one Feras Anselmi. Additional copies are destroyed. I also like to conquer almost everything, and I have a house rule where an island can be be turned into a personal fiefdom of legendary specialist, and using that specialist's abilities I can do whatever I want with docklands on that island. So for example Herve Savonne makes a huge amount of soap, dynamite is a side product. His island has a massive dockland that swaps soap, dynamite, and local crops for finished goods to sustain a healthy population of investors. But nothing trades from that island to or from the rest of my empire, it's totally outside my routes and I only get the benefit of the investor influence and income (and now, mail). It's a fun way to use up islands and go nuts with docklands and not break the game.

I wish there was a way to add owned DLC later in a game. I only really got into the game recently, and I finally have wrapped my head around most of the content, but it would have been nice to have been able to add each DLC in turn to really be able to appreciate the changes they made and the "flow" that long-time players would have experienced. Still an amazing game, one of my favorites in a long time.

That would be nice, but sadly that only happens if you have an existing game going when a new one comes out. You could have just activated all the DLCs and not touched them until you were satisfied as is, but I imagine having a dozen little notifications/quests about "do this, do that" would have been obnoxious.

There's a part of me that wants to start over so I can experience building around the hacienda, instead of reorganising all my stuff to take advantage of it (and also so I can start without pirates), but there's no way I'm going to replay the whole Enbesa questline, or totally completing the zoo/garden sets again.

So watching a streamer for the Anno drops (Cringer for reference) and... You can make sewing machines out of aluminium! This makes supplying them so much easier to the new world and potentially saves a lot of iron in the old world for other things. The amount of aluminium you need for the Artistas needs (fans, sewing machines, electric scooters) also explains why there was so many mines added in Empire of the Skies.

I did the math, and if I hacienda-ify my second New World hub, I can reduce its 16 farms from 4159 tiles down to 2016. I don't know what I'll do with all that space. If I'm going to add more farms, I might have to put in a second fuel station. Oh, but I'm getting low on population, so I'll have to expand the town, but what about the next update? What if I need to make room for a rail line? Will the power station be the same size? How much room do I need to leave for the new public buildings? Ah, what a game.
