That's past tense though. Generic "fraud" vs generic "lovely guy" accusations are enough to make me go "who knows, we'll see with more info." Knowing that it would eventually be public knowledge that they sold something to themselves for five million euro makes it very hard to imagine any public will ever be on your side.

This is how you communicate with a fellow intelligence: you hurt it, you keep on hurting it, until you can distinguish the posts from the screams.
It is good to believe allegations of abuse but "believe" doesn't mean "accept credulously" it means "fairly evaluate the allegations with a mind to your own biases and those of the source, keeping in mind how hard it is to come forward in a culture of silence."

In this case the source was literally a convicted fraudster with absolutely no one backing him up so...I think even a good faith, conscientious examination of the allegations should've leaned pretty heavily one way from the start.

Also any moral system, no matter how good and necessary and urgent and true, how vitally correct it is on the statistical level - for example, allegations of sexual misconduct very much tend to be true! - needs to have safeguards against the shittiest people on Earth who will use it the same way they would a $1 concept art sale.

just beat this game for the first time (excellent, incredible, etc) and had to sit through credits so I could immediately reload a save from the endgame so I could trigger the final dream sequence, which I missed the first time through. I sort of get why it works the way it does (and its funny to think about that version of the ending, where you simply wake up with severe amnesia and the vague intimations about an ex-something never coalesce into anything more) but it's such a strange thing to have be technically optional content.

I missed it my first time through as well, I assumed the cot was just a convenient way to restore bars before a “boss fight”. a full-health well-stocked superstar cop wouldn’t stop to nap when the culprit’s right outside; juliaroberts-bigmistake.gif

Going to sleep in the lair of the enemy immediately before the final confrontation of the game is such a dumb move I honestly have no idea why anyone would do it on their first playthrough, who knows what could be on the island at that point!!

Yeah but my boyfriend Kim Kitsuragi is right there to watch over me while I take my little nappy nap and am traumatized by the memory of my ex girlfriend I've idolized into a Christ-like figure.

It's weird that's it's optional yeah, it feels very important to understanding Harry and runs parallel to the finale.

Yeah I also decided against sleeping there since it seemed like a bad idea.

I was also trying to avoid prompts/stuff that dwelled on the Dora stuff too, so I guess it kinda worked out?

to be fair, since you can do a true “get your poo poo together” playthrough (quitting alcohol, assuming responsibility for all the mess, fixing stuff, doing good work, helping people, defend the working class) I think it wouldn’t be a disservice to the themes of the game to have the possibility where Harry realizes he is in a much better position than before about the ex-something

It's possible to sleep on the island and not get The Final Dream, I think you have to dodge all references to Dolores Dei, and possibly any references to The Ex as well.

It is the opposite. RPG parties throw down a tent and have a bbq in the Emperors antechamber on a collapsing space station to get ready before confronting him.
It makes less sense for a normal person.
Kim has some strange dialogue there in order to try and make it seem like your powernap makes sense. Especially as the RCM doesn't feel like a pro powernap culture . I feel like it would flow better if you were sitting down to rest your leg and dozing of unintentionally.

I'm gonna say it.

(ending spoilers)The insulindian phasmid's voice was too goofy, and not what I pictured in my head. I'm glad I had my "moment" with it before it was voiced. Also I remember it emitting a high pitched whine throughout the scene that I'm not sure was there originally. Very aurally distracting.

Absolutely not. The voice acting for narration and the stats is so, so good. And Kim. And Cuno. And Cunoesse.

It was best the first time, when only key bits were voiced and you knew those were the important bits so listen up. Now everything voiced I just skip through most of it because I'm reading way ahead and the voices and I'm not gonna sit through a whole audiobook here

There's a menu option in there to reduce the voice acting down to the way it was in the original release.

Remember seeing people post that Col Do Ma Ma Daqua was a reference to anti socialist/communist propaganda and operations and seemed eerie that it'd be something you could hear happening if you stood still and listened hard enough. Like gun shots going off and bombs falling somewhere and everywhere. Or even subtler in THE MEDIA. I'm drunk and probably remembering wrng should have robably looked back at those posts but lol :effort:

Completely agree. I can't read and listen to an actor at the same time. Well, if it's the same language. I love watching captioned films shot in languages I don't understand. I can get the emotional intention of the actor the exact way they wanted it.

And I hard disagree with some of the casting decisions for the v/o in Disco. That's not Mr. Claire's voice, god drat it.

The writing in this game is good and interesting so I don't mind letting the voice-acting play while I re-read the text or think about what it is saying. Gives the text flavour.

In basically any other game, it doesn't matter how good the voice-acting is, I'm gonna press spacebar once I'm done reading the lines and skip it.
