I'm gonna say that seeing students crush on each other and chuckling about it quietly to yourself is an ordinary part of working with kids. You might even have cause to talk about it to them, if it's causing them to behave in ways that are inappropriate or disruptive to the dynamic of your room (or, possibly, because they asked for you for advice, though obviously talking with children about personal matters is a path of great peril). I don't know what the gently caress this man thought he was doing, but it sure wasn't any of that.

I was just driving my parents from my brother's house to the Atlanta airport after Thanksgiving and we were talking about how my brother, who has been very very heavily religious his whole life (none of the rest of us are; we're not sure where he picked it up) seems to have toned down his expressions of faith and become a lot more loose lately in the last couple of years. Seems to us, knowing that he and his wife and daughters are every bit as far left as people on this forum and have been taking part in BLM protests and outreach efforts and the like and loathe Trump and everything associated with him, that he actually has deeply held convictions and everyone else at the church is just doing performative poo poo. They can't monetize what they have in him so he's useless to them. They wanted someone to proselytize in that new job, and that's not what he does. The last thing that church wants is actual Christians
