I usually think about a tattoo for a year or so and if I still want it I get it. No regrets. The only exception was my first, which was a piece of Sailor Jerry flash I got in a Toys for Tots for Tats promo at a local studio. I don’t regret it either, but being American traditional, it’s quite colorful and everything else I have is blackwork. I almost certainly would not have got it if I had thought about it longer than standing at the counter and picking which flash I wanted. It does take me back though when I look at it. It feels like it’s been a century since I got it, even though it’s only been about a decade.
