It's really popular in the south from my experience. Sweet potatoes are already super sweet and marshmallows on top is overkill imo. My mom would just cut them into small cubes and cover them in tons of butter and bake them until they just start getting soft.

Iron Crowned posted:Does anyone actually do the sweet potato pie thing with the broiled marshmallows? My in laws do it, the sweet potatoes are cut in like thirds so they're giant chunks. They just put some butter and brown sugar in and then dump marshmallows on top before it goes in the oven, to cook the raw sweet potatoes, so instead of "broiled marshmallows" it's more like "sweet potatoes stewed in marshmallow fluff"

Yeah nothing really beats just a plain sweet potato, mushed up with fork and botter. NOT A RAW, Salt, pepepr. In it

My family makes a baked sweet potatoes mash with a topping of brown sugar and pecans and such instead and it has converted many a sweet potato skeptic. Marshmallow sounds gross though.

It's OK but it was literally invented by a marshmallow company to sell marshmallows, not by humans for eating, and it kind of shows.

marshmallows are just sugar with worse texture. way overkill on sweet potatoes and pretty nasty in general. they always just taste like the plastic bag they're in. nthing the butter and brown sugar roast, although my mom boils before baking which again seems like overkill and probably saps the nutrients down to zero for my hog extended family to not feel like they're having a veggie. same goes for green beans, I made completely from scratch with all home grown ingredients and no one but me touched it except to be polite.

I'm not a mushroom expert but those look a lot like the ones that sprouted in a grow kit I ordered from a specialist store in Amsterdam.

I forgot what thread I was reading and was thinking I should congratulate someone on a nice looking pizza. The sad dick mushrooms are just what a lot of mushrooms look like and are probably home-grown (oyster mushrooms?) or foraged and almost certainly better than supermarket buttons, maybe they would look a little bit better if you chopped them up, but that looks great. [ed. Those also look like some psilocybin mushrooms, and I'm pretty sure that you destroy the effect if you cook them, so maybe it's a tragedy in that respect] Xenophanes has a new favorite as of 21:05 on Nov 29, 2022 |

Those mushrooms are sold here as shi-maggi and they have a mild nutty flavour, maybe not the best choice to be smothered in cheese and sauce but absolutely fine.

Pretty sure it's just "inspired by" her sauce and they didn't really try to use her recipes, because she couldn't keep the recipe straight from day to day. It's orange because the only way to get the violently pink colour was using food colouring, and she doesn't want to admit she was doing that. A real company has to comply with labeling laws, so they won't slip in a little red #3 and not mention it. Weirdly it does contain titanium dioxide for color. Titanium dioxide is a bright white pigment, so I wonder what color this would be without it? Brownish?
