I'll be honest, I don't think it's the charizard specifically "cheating" or something, it's just whatever standard bad netcode fuckery is going on with raids. I took this video right before I went to do a charizard raid:

https://i.imgur.com/HWkGaYd.mp4

That said, I've beaten the charizard twice already with 3x azumarill + a support each time. (And yes its health bar, uh, desynced, both times.) Might take a bit due to move RNG but should be doable. In fact people have beaten it solo with an azumarill.

I just woke my Switch from sleep and my game started running like poo poo again, so I will rescind this post. You still need to close the game once in a while (but it runs really well right after you boot it)

I went to the flowery area near the fairy base where my game always chugs and it was still chugging. Maybe it runs better in some scenarios but it's definitely struggling in others. I don't know how much of it is just wishful thinking or because people closed the game and that maybe helps with memory leak stuff.

Medals only weigh one down.

Charizard raid rules. Lots of sylveons and azumarills, and not a single box legendary to be seen.

PSA: if you use Screech and your ally Azumarill usess Belly Drum -> Play Rough, you will fully one-shot him through all the bullshit. I've been having a great time with Umbreon and [Light screen / Screech / Helping Hand / Snarl], or a similar Sylveon with Rain Dance.

e: also, you cannot use the 6IV, level 100 Charizard in raids, which makes me lol, but also thank god I don't nerd an even weaker defensive mon than the box legendaries clogging up every raid for the next month.

Can you challenge the 5 and 6 star raids alone out of curiosity (and if so, are they winnable as I’ve heard victory in at least one of those requires Pokémon with specific IVs)?

Levels alone will won you 5 star raids solo pretty easily. Dunno about 6

Good to know, at the moment my starter’s at Lvl 100 and the rest of my team are around the low to mid 80’s and high 70’s so I was just curious if that was enough

You can eventually get to the point where you can consistently solo 5 star raids. 6 star raids are also doable solo, but it kinda depends. I've maybe managed to clear four out of the last six that I've tied, but most of those took a few attempts. Some pokemon with the right tera are just too brutal unless you have the absolute perfect counter for it.

LICK MY ASS
Charizard crashed once, lagged me into infinity where I couldn't move while my teammates did a couple times, and yeah, the health bar is a lie. Key to beating him is to have nobody die which takes big chunks out of the timer bar. Ended up catching one but it was about an hour and a half of waiting for three partners that knew what they were doing. If you were doing it live with friends (again, who knew what they were doing and you could talk to each other), it'd probably be easy.
Using Rain Dance as a strategy to nullify his Sunny Day fails spectacularly unless it forgets that it knows Hurricane.

Yeah it's worth noting that even though the AI teammates aren't generally helpful, they're also not a liability, which is more than you can say for some players online. You don't get a time penalty when one faints.

It's both thrilling and terrifying.
I solo-ed Charizard on my 2nd try! Didn't want to have to deal with the lag of using random pubs.

For anyone interested:
Lvl 100 Azumarill (holding Shell Bell)
Play Rough (maximize its uses with PP Up)
Light Screen
Belly Drum
whatever (never used)
Ability - Thick Fat

Fully Hyper Trained
EV - 252 Sp.Def/252 HP/4 Atk
whichever mint +Sp. Def and -Sp. Atk

Start the battle with Light Screen, then Belly Drum, then just spam Play Rough. Terra as soon as it's available and just keep spamming Play Rough. Belly Drum if you die/get it removed by Char.

Please for the love of god do not Rain Dance in the Charizard raids. Hurricane is easily its most threatening move to Azumarill due to the /water typing blunting the fire stuff and rain makes it 100% accurate.

In terms of story, I thought Black and White were far superior to X and Y (I never played BW2 but I've heard good things about those too). In terms of gameplay, I thought X and Y were a lot more fun.

So based on this and other posts, I loaded up White 2 since it only had 1.5h on it and it looks like at some point I had used White 1 to get all of the starters traded over to White2, and was going to play it for the story instead of to catch ‘em all + the story, and then I stopped because the map was buried four layers in instead of occupying the bottom screen

My hope is that they re-release it for the switch like they did for diamond/pearl. Gonna finish up Ultra Sun and maybe complete ORAS, absolutely going to go nuts with Scarlet when it gets here with my Switch on Saturday, and then circle back to 3DS titles until March 2023 when I can freely transfer pokemans to my PokeBank and from my PokeBank to Pokémon Home

I can’t imagine Gen V remakes being anything but a disappointment tbqh. There’s no way they’d have the charm and character of the original’s spritework and animations. Also they’d probably skip over B2/W2 entirely.

they didnt let ICLA add platinum content to bdsp so i'm gonna go with "no"

honestly i think it's highly doubtful they'll ever remake them, at the most we'll get a virtual-console-esque port of them to whatever console replaces the switch.

theyre good games but theyre also in a kind of awkward position for the purpose of remakes -
1 - bw1's main thing was that you only got new pokemon during the story, it was a soft reboot, which is why routes started counting at 1 again. the pokemon are no longer new, so that falls flat.
2 - they introduced a few changes to the gameplay that they've since walked back. triple and rotation battles were axed immediately and now infinite TMs are (sort of) gone
3 - this is a minor thing but one of unova's things was powerful dragon pokemon. final gym leader uses dragons, the battle with N has dragons, BW2's champion is dragons, ghestis has an obnoxiously strong dragon, etc. and with fairy type, none of that is imposing anymore!
4 - it has an actual proper sequel that's its own thing and you cant bring back one without the other or it feels incomplete. but essentially remaking what is 70% of the same game twice is a dubious proposition even without the transition to 3d.

SyntheticPolygon

This may be a surprise to you, but even after the introduction of fairies Dragon trainers are still very common.

Anyway ORAS and HGSS were top tier pokemon games so I believe in future remakes even if BDSP were boring

It doesn’t feel like theyre saying that dragon-types are less ubiquitous, more that Dragons as a big “holy poo poo” thing don’t exist narratively anymore. But really they’ve always been underwhelming since, like, how many ducking dragon specialists didn’t just load up on the regional pseudo-legendary’s preevolved form and/or just run a team of half “vaguely dragoney guys” like Lance/Raihan?

I liked battle frontier too man but for most people pokemon is the main story, and postgame doesn't matter.
most games have "nothing to do" after you beat the game, that's only a problem if you want to get a lot of longterm enjoyment out of them

Given the fact that Unova at least in BW1 doesn’t have old Pokemon until the postgame, there wouldn’t be any Fairy types. Maybe you’d have a few able to learn Play Rough or Dazzling Gleam but there’s nothing to no-sell Draco Meteors.

There’s also the fact that Dragons are on average still the most imposing mons stat-wise to this day. Fairy weakness or not, a Hydreigon or Haxorus is still an enormous problem.
