you should buy stuff from the armory as you level, there's way fewer drops than in vermintide

It's not to say that Psyker doesn't have some really great qualities, just that a lot of those are incidental to any choices you make regarding your Feat choices entirely. It's often overlooked or considered too obvious, but being able to lock on to a priority target and duck behind cover or around a corner while doing guaranteed damage is absurdly powerful and nothing any of the other classes can do can beat that. Your F also has exceptional range--a much larger range than you probably think--and can stagger pretty much anything it hits outside of some specific examples. Neither of those things are things Feats influence, though, which feels like a mistake given they're the two best things about the class.

Would there be a particular class I'd want if I was trying to avoid spam clicking my mouse? Would that be veteran with a full auto weapon? Thinking zealot would be a big no with the focus on melee.. not sure how Psykers work. Lots of charge up attacks?

I'll play zealot or ogryn for a bit to switch it up and just end up coming back. their feat layout / choices are pretty schizophrenic but I don't think that's unique to them. veteran has a pretty coherent design but ogryn and zealots seem weird / have limited effective choices too

having just messed around with the ogryn for the first time the past hour or so there's like a split second between when the projectile for their grenade box throw spawns and when it feels like it should from the animation that always seems to make it hit behind where i'm aiming

Kind of simplifying, but Zealot and Ogryn are mostly front line characters while Veteran and Psyker are more ranged. You'll still need to balance melee and ranged combat no matter which class you choose but Vet and Psyker would be better starting choices if you're trying to avoid constantly being in the fray. Going by what everyone has been saying Vet is the strongest class in the game and can be just as effective in melee range once you get a force sword, I haven't reached that point leveling mine yet.

Veteran with one of the recon lasguns is maybe the least technical APM? Though probably not by a huge margin Alternatively just plug in a controller and play zealot.

There are, constantly and everywhere, railings and fences with big obvious gaps in them. You can, completely reasonably, shoot through them. But you cannot lock on a brain burst through them, which makes no sense and feels terrible. If anything it should be more lenient than shooting. If I have LoS on an enemy, at all, I should be able to lock on brain burst.

Literally all of my 75 hours or so has been on Psyker so far so outside of what I've seen from friends I can't speak to how they play firsthand--though by all accounts they need a lot of work in their own ways. Broadly I don't think the matter of Veteran VS Psyker matters much at all at the end of the day and both classes played by competent players will be able to clear Difficulty 5 with little variance between them. I'm more interested in Psyker changes building more of a functional identity for the class beyond just "Can kill specials real good" because, much like in VT2, literally any class can do that as it stands, right now, on Difficulty 5, as long as it's played by someone who has the knowledge and loadout to do it.

Psykers should be able to target multiple brain bursts at once so they can be the ranged control character similar to how Ogryn is the melee control character.

here's a thought about psyker balance but it requires someone with more knowledge of warhammer 40k canon than i do: force staves generally can be used to smash poo poo up forcewise, right? or is that specifically space marine librarians? because right now force staves do have a melee attack but its damage is ludicrously abysmal (it might do a lot of stagger like the ogryn's slap, i'm not sure). if you really gave that some oomph it could be something, balance wise (make it cost peril if you want), and it wouldn't be replacing your melee weapon entirely because here's the thing: you still wouldn't be able to block with the staff out.

Once i finish my weeklys i'm likely gonna shelve my pysker until they rebalance it because every weapon but the voidstrike is just so meh and i can contribute so much more to the team with another class. Brain pop should be a friggin cone and the staves should give you different varieties of brain pops. The fact that i have to toggle to something that should be my classes main weapon is just dumb--pop then go back to stave to vent fast?? Get rid of the light attack with staves and change secondary to light attacks while secondary would be staff flavored brain pops, surge would cause the target to get stunned faster and explode into lightening when popped, etc. Feats could be used to toggle brain pops too from wide area pops to focused but fast powerful pops.

Yo, if you’re playing psyker on higher difficulties and using brain burst often, you’re playing it wrong IMO My main use for brain burst: get the perk that lets you charge brain burst faster after you ult and fire off five brain bursts when multiple Ogryn enemies or bosses show up. That’s basically it outside of throwing a pop on dogs or a mutant to help delete them before they get someone. Voidstrike is pinpoint accurate, charges faster, pulls more than 75% of the damage on headshots and can hit a massive numbers of enemies in a line, etc etc Not to be confrontational, but the goon who said that the voidstrike staff was “meh” is so incredibly wrong that it hurts — it’s an AOE stun railgun that pens everything but big boy creatures (including friendlies). If you think and use it to maximize those benefits, there’s no class that can crowd control —and still delete things— like that at range. I’d go so far as to say that when the voidstrike staff gets nerfed, Psyker will not be worth playing — it’s that much better than everything else for the class (and everything other ranged weapon for everyone else’s classes too tbh) tehinternet fucked around with this message at 07:44 on Dec 3, 2022 |

Voidstrike is a better plasma with AOE stun, larger lethal area, no chip damage and unlimited ammo It’s literally the only thing the class has that makes it stand out in higher difficulties — it’s easily the best general purpose ranged weapon in the game and the only one that can rapidly crowd control & kill large groups or large mobs at any range I will stan for voidstrike all day, if it hosed any harder you’d get bruises irl If voidstrike didn’t exist, I’d agree with your post
