yeah, Tay's had six matches on TV since August, which isn't super great I mean, hell, I did think the women's division would have more than two matches a week on TV at this point, which makes me wonder if their lack of TV time is a network edict, or what

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scCStOPEfJY This is probably the dumbest 9 minutes of I've seen from an NWA executive in this interview. With such gems like: - Tyrus being a lovely person means he's a great heel, and a great draw for the show. Him winning the title is good heel work. - Tyrus has a rich wrestling lineage, that people need to respect. - Tyrus saying and doing things that people (mainly on the left) disagree with is good heel work and he represents the common working class man with his behavior. - Tyrus appearing on Fox News means that NWA is more popular than AEW and WWE. Wrestling is very similar to stand up in the sense that you could be the shittiest comedian around but once you’ve been doing it for long enough comedians just respect you because you’ve been doing it for a long time.

In linguistics, a fossil phrase is one that only shows up in an idiom and doesn't make sense on its own anymore. In point is one of them; it means something like "ready for action," but no one uses it that way anymore. In point is a case in point of a fossil phrase!

Guillermus posted:I really liked Rogue One. I'm one of the nerds that would have loved to have Kyle Katarn be the one stealing the Death Star stuff but that would mean putting him in the new trilogy but lol at Disney actually making interesting characters anyways. It's the only one out of the post-Disney buyout films that still holds up, imo.

I watched rogue one on a tiny inflight entertainment screen with hardcoded Chinese subtitles and it was still a better time than any of the sequels

It is me. I am the Last Jedi enjoyer. To be honest, if I come across The Force Awakens on TV, there's a non-zero chance that I'll sit down and watch the rest of it. Rise of Skywalker can gently caress off though.

Watched them all the week Rise came out; by the end I thought (and still do [and always will]) TLJ was the only one I really loved, and Rise ensured Rise was the only one I really hated, to the point it made me think higher of the prequels (not too much higher of Phantom, but still noticeably higher than Rise)

TLJ is arguably the best one and easily the most interesting one.

I fell asleep during the first half of Rogue One which is the boring half and woke up just in time for big awesome space mission which made it an extremely good movie for me

I liked Rogue One. I did not care one way or the other about the first two sequel movies. That third one though was fascinating. I remember seeing it in theaters and thinking to myself "Wow, I've never seen a franchise kill itself before."

The best Star Wars movie is the prequel BTS stuff where Lucas obviously doesn't give a poo poo and just says really dumb stuff to an increasingly and visibly worried staff who can't bring themselves to tell him no.

Thought The Force Awakens was fun for what it was but The Last Jedi was just incredibly boring and full of too much MCU dialogue. The only thing I kind of enjoyed was the casino planet which felt like something out of the prequels, which while I don't like the prequels, they at least felt kind of original, just mainly stupid and annoying. Rise of Skywalker was very stupid but less boring. But the main issue with all of the sequels is Disney greenlit a trilogy with no clue what was going to happen with it. So you had JJ Abrams come in, write a movie with some idea for where it was going to go, then not do the sequel, the Last Jedi throw out most of what Abrams did and then Abrams come back and throw out most of what The Last Jedi did. And now Star Wars is dead in the water as a movie franchise. And with Andor they have a series people really seem to like but they've put out so much bland stuff since that barely anyone is watching Andor. Meanwhile back to bad tweets. Kevin Nash asks people to subscribe to his podcast since his son really wanted him to get to 100k subscribers and... https://twitter.com/Ynwanonymous/status/1599242728121856000

SatoshiMiwa posted:The first and third sequels are worse than the prequels tho... and the second one is way worse Really TLJ could have been good if it had the balls to pull the trigger on any of the interesting stuff it tried to set up, but instead it just spent 2 and a half hours trying to subvert expectations and being boring. And having that happen at almost the same time as GoT doing the same thing en route to its legendary meltdown was just bizarre to watch. I almost convinced myself that RJ could have made a good trilogy by himself since one of the biggest problems with his movie was it didn't fit with the other two, but then I realized he'd probably just do a bunch of dumb poo poo like hyperspace ramming battles mooseinfants fucked around with this message at 08:40 on Dec 4, 2022 |

All the Disney Warses suck but they all suck for unique reasons and I don't think I've ever seen that happen with another media franchise TFA is a weird hollow reenactment that watches like something you'd make by following a Youtube tutorial. Rogue One is probably the most dramatically inert movie I've ever seen. TLJ desperately wanted to be interesting and failed, while ROS desperately wanted to be boring and succeeded MassRafTer posted:But the main issue with all of the sequels is Disney greenlit a trilogy with no clue what was going to happen with it. Yeah that's just kinda what you'd expect from a process that was "well we spent infinity dollars on this IP and we need to make content with it to get a return on our investment" rather than it coming from anybody's real creative spark mooseinfants posted:and the second one is way worse TLJ botches a lot of pretty basic things and it's possible it was all forced on Johnson somehow but I am pretty sure a full trilogy by him would've been a disaster. Maybe a compelling disaster, but a disaster (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)
