Do the packs have the themes printed on them or is it a surprise? I only ever played on Arena, where it let you choose between 3 themes twice

European legacy masters semi finals are on now. Top 8 was reanimator, delver, 2 breakfast decks, doomsday, RW initiative, W initiative, 4c control. At least one of the initiative decks is going through to the final against delver or reanimator. Deck seems pretty good, wonder if it's that the meta hasn't adjusted yet.

Tried someone's vintage cube today, first time drafting any cube. My first game, first turn, played a dual land, threw down a mox, and a Mana crypt pretty confident I had that game in the bag. Then I realized my hand was garbage once I looked past those 3 cards. I couldn't even play anything that turn (I mightve had a board wipe I technically could've cast on empty board lol), and my next draw wasn't great, he removed what I played and then destroyed my dual land, 2 of his things and made 3/3s for each destroyed. Whatever, next draw was decent... then I realized that dual land was my only source of white mana in the deck, I threw in all mountains and forgot to add any plains, with a mostly white hand.

hah i passed on a mox because I wanted the black lotus, and then i passed on another one because it wasn't in my colour (and almost every card was something you definitely wanted or wanted everyone else not to have anyway), then I took the next one because I realized it doesn't matter lol. Last week I got a delivery error notice and had to pay 39 cents in extra postage to receive a letter from a shop on TCGPlayer, whic hwas more than the cards and also already paid a buck for shipping. When I opened it up to sleeve the last 3 cards to complete my deck, it was like 9 cards for some random card game, Vanguard. Thankfully drafting that cub today had some time and browsed the store's singles inventory and got the 3 cards immediately which was nice, need to remember to go in person since their tcgplayer store isn't as updated it seems. Anyway I have a new appreciation for Magic's sensibility WRT art and card text. Yeah, sometimes they blow a lot of space for one single keyword, or like any non-full art basic land seems silly use of frame/text box since it's... so basic. These vancards were all full-art with suuuuper tiny text and text boxes at the bottom, but they also include a lot of even smaller text inside of symbols and bubbles to explain the card's actions. Look at this one:  It's not a ton of text, but it's nearly half the size of normal magic card text. It has some inscrutable symbols with what I assume is important relevant information.

Look at this one: I've guessed and had multiple people tell me that Japanese reads better at smaller font sizes, so that's why the text is so small. Doesn't help how loud the card designs are, though.

We're going to start hitting people for having pissy slapfights about "proxies" vs. "unmarked counterfeits" etc. The rule isn't changing, it's still fine to have normal conversations about this subject which is obviously germane and relevant to everyone who buys and plays with singletons/used cards/etc: but it's increasingly clear that a couple of posters are only posting on the subject in order to alternately mock or berate specific posting enemies who are on the opposite side of the debate about what is or is not OK to buy or play with and we're going to hit those posts for trolling/slapfighting. We are not going to ban posting videos from Rudy. It's polite to mark them as Rudy videos and anyone who wants to avoid clicking on them can do so. I'm sorry if the entire subject of "MTG Finance" and speculating on cards disgusts some folks, but that is also a significant and notable aspect of the MTG hobby and the mods don't think that's a subject we should try to ban from discussion either. Please do not attack posters for posting Rudy vids.

I think it’s Good Posting Technique to provide some context or commentary if you’re linking any video longer than a few minutes. Tell us why you think it’s worth watching. Low effort posts that are literally only the video aren’t helpful for the thread. People can subscribe to the creator if they just want the videos.

I stopped using TCGPlayer because their new cart optimization is completely busted for non-US orders. I filter for “direct from TCG” and put together a cart, then at checkout it randomly (I did not tell it to optimize or change anything) decides that my single direct order should be split into six non-direct orders that each charge an extra $19 to ship to Canada. I put together an order of about 100 cards that was going to be $25 with shipping, but at checkout it became $110 in six separate packages and I just cancelled. Sticking to CardKingdom for bulk orders for now.

On the subject of online card markets, how quickly do shipments from Card Kingdom normally take? I ordered a few singles from them for the first time this past Monday, and still no shipping notification. I only ordered like five cards and they were all in stock with reasonable numbers of each card available. I’m being patient before I reach out to them as I’m sure especially pre-holidays it can get pretty backed up. But I was just curious what others’ experience was with them to see if this is unusual or fairly common.

This is going to sound way more insulting than I mean it to, and I'm going to be away from my computer for a while here so don't feel any need to reply, but it's a bit bizarre how so many of you people self-admittedly barely play or watch this game at all but seemingly have an encyclopedic of all the personalities and drama surrounding it.
